The Job: Senior Estimator

Purpose
The purpose of this role is to estimate project costs and create project budgets.  It is also to provide technical sales support on an as needed basis.  The role will also work with our Supply Chain and Sourcing departments to maintain and expand pricing databases.  It will also work with existing and find new vendors to support our estimating and construction efforts.

Essential Job Functions
  • Create project budgets.
  • Respond to budget requests by completing budget template.
  • Using existing internal database and RFQ process as required.
  • Read, notate and summarize technical RFP documents.
  • Read plans, specs, datasheets etc.
  • Participate in internal bring down meetings.
  • Participate in budget approval process with leadership team.
  • Effectively communicate latest information to the broader ENGIE team including
    • Latest pricing
    • Lead times
    • Industry information
  • Deficiencies in data and areas for improvement.
  • Update, expand, improve budget process, template, and database.
  • Estimate project costs.
  • Research and estimate costs for projects.
  • Able to cost out complex technical solutions for which no existing pricing exists.
  • Update expand and maintain pricing database.
  • Provide technical sales support.
  • Participate in, lead, or support sales team in RFP process.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on an as needed basis.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and RFP response interviews in support of sales team.
  • Provide sales team feedback and assistance in order to expand their technical sales ability.
  • Work with Supply Chain Analyst and Sourcing Office to
    • Maintain pricing databases
    • Expand and improve pricing
    • Identify area where the company lacks adequate pricing data.
    • Maintain and expand vendor relationships.
    • Contractors.
    • Equipment Suppliers

Requirements

  • Communicates effectively with colleagues, contractors, inspectors, clients and others.
  • Ability to identify value engineering, and cost savings.
  • A keen eye for detail, nuance and subtlety.
  • Keep records, files, and project data in company database.

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting.
  • Travel to project sites can be up to 20%.
  • Be comfortable on a roof, a large active construction site, and a board room.
  • Ability to work remotely when required.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stair towers, steps, work in excavations, extreme weather conditions both hot and cold.
  • Schedule your time in advance.
  • Handle everchanging situations as the course of normal business.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Electrical estimating Industrial/Commercial is required.
  • Rooftop C&I, carport and ground mount solar PV estimating is required.
  • MS Office Suite required.
  • Civil estimating is highly preferred.
  • Medium voltage estimating is highly preferred.
  • Direct construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Salesforce or equivalent proficiency is highly preferred.
  • Energy storage estimating is preferred.
