The Senior Developer position requires a good technical foundation as well as a willingness to wear several hats with a strong commitment to delivering enterprise solutions. The Senior Developer develops, tests, implements, integrates, deploys, maintains both off-the-shelf and proprietary business system platforms for ENGIE Resources.

 

The Senior Developer will report to the Director of Solution Delivery. The reporting location for this role is in Houston, TX.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Have a deep understanding of business drivers and how emerging technologies trends (e.g., cloud tech, blockchain, digital twins, AI-development, autonomous things, smart spaces) fit into this landscape
  • Cultivate and foster a culture of sound technology delivery methods and quality assurance best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and best practices for the application development team in support of business operations
  • Review and analyze existing applications’ effectiveness and efficiency, and develops strategies for improving or leveraging these systems
  • Research and make recommendations on software products, processes, and services in support of business effectiveness
  • Coordinate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software and applications
  • Define project priorities, helping identify potential risks, project timelines, costs, and testing approach
  • Inspire team towards a swift and successful resolution of issues
  • Develop assignments that meet both functional and non-functional quality standards (e.g., DevOps, patterns and practices, and architectural standards)
  • Develop technical and security specifications for the targeted applications/workloads
  • Test code via automated unit testing frameworks and GUI testing frameworks meeting code coverage standards
  • Research emerging technologies and prototypes solutions that can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase performance
  • Evaluate 3rd party services, libraries, and APIs to compare functionality for solution criteria fit and supports product selection
  • Analyze and resolve software defects while searching impacted solutions for similar but undiscovered defects
  • Contribute to all agile team activities including roadmap creation, planning, problem-solving, designing, coding, testing, and deployment of the end-to-end solution
  • Break down requirements into granular development tasks and provides estimated hours to develop
  • Provide guidance, direction, and examples to developers with less experience
  • Perform code reviews based on defined coding standards and contributes to coding standards
  • Prepare reports and other expository data regarding overall progress

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS curriculum is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and developing software solutions
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with teams of up to 4+ developers
  • Responsible for delivery of 1 mid to large scale project from ideation to operations
  • Minimum of 3 years of implementation experience with the following:
    • C#, Microsoft .Net, Azure PaaS stack
    • Azure Cloud services such as Web roles, Worker roles, Azure AD, Azure SQL DB, Azure Service Bus, and Azure API Management
    • DevOps, CI/CD processes and tools required
    • IPaaS or on-premises integration platforms
  • Minimum of 3 years database design and ORM for both SQL Server and Oracle
  • Minimum of 2 years of Oracle PL/SQL experience is required including PL/SQL development of packages/functions/stored procedures/triggers, bulk data loads, and tuning/query optimization skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Azure and Web security design best practices as well as integration experience with either SAML or OAuth 2
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Big Data architectures running on Azure (e.g., Data Factory, HD Insight, blob storage)
  • Knowledge of common design patterns, system integration patterns and distributed design patterns
  • Experience with financial modeling and business case development using Excel preferred
  • Ability to meet the highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
