The Role: Senior Project Manager – Capital Projects

Working in a self-managed team concept, the Senior Contracts Manager will be a part of the ENGIE SmartCampusE Project team based at Ohio State Columbus campus and will report to the CEO of Ohio State Energy Partners. This candidate is responsible for negotiation, development, and administration of all capital project contracts including SmartCampusE related to the development of a combined heat and power plant, the heating and cooling distribution network, and enabling infrastructure for the project at The Ohio State University.  The Senior Contracts Manager will also liaise and receive guidance from the ENGIE Contracts Management team in Houston and provide contracts management and administrative support to the Capital Projects team in Columbus, OH.

Essential Job Functions
  • Working closely with the contracts management and procurement teams in Houston, the Senior Contracts Manager leads the Project Controls and Administration Team in Columbus.
  • Manages the service, equipment and labor supply contracting processes from RFP development through award and administration as a service to the Program and Project Managers for all capital projects including SmartCampusE in Columbus.
  • Develops a relationship with qualified equipment vendors, suppliers, construction contractors, and design/engineering firms.
  • Manages Pre-Award and Post Award processes and activities for RFQs, RFPs, contract negotiations and changes.
  • Reviews supplier invoices, change orders, and provides support to the SmartCampusE Project Manager on the execution of the SmartCampusE Project.
  • Provides feedback to the Project Scheduler, Project Controls, and related Project Administration team in Columbus.
  • Provides support to project managers on developing scopes of work, contractual claims and disputes.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with ENGIE subsidiaries and our partners.
  • Promotes ENGIE’s services to develop new business opportunities.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

  • Experience creating and managing RFQ/RFP process’ in industrial construction environments.
  • Experience in contract execution, management and negotiation of construction, engineering and services contracts
  • Experience in construction projects, working at sites, managing subcontractors, contracts administration and change management 
  • Strong team player
  • Must be able to multi-task; utilize problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of modern management tools in continuous improvement

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting.


  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Strong background in construction, industrial or municipal projects will be considered a very strong asset
  • Experience or solid understanding of procurement
