Purpose of the Job

  • Identify and develop the business through development of greenfield projects and acquisitions.


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Market watch and prospecting: Carry out proactive prospection and screen/evaluate opportunities
  • Contribute to develop a successful bid/proposal strategy 
  • Lead a project team for greenfield/ brownfield or M&A transactions in the following technologies: desalination, CCGT/cogeneration, battery storage, H2
  • Lead and manage all development activities performed by internal and external resources till achievement of financial close / handover to construction
  • Negotiations with clients, partners, contractors, external advisors, lenders, and other counterparts
  • Establish and maintain contacts with decision makers and other relevant stakeholders in the industry
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing business development procedure and contribute to a smooth approval process: draft and coordinate internal project documentation (project assumptions, Investment Note, compliance memos) and organize and lead project reviews, bid sign-off, return on experience, handover,
  • Be accountable for and apply best practices in business development 
  • Be accountable for identified BD targets and KPIs (incl. BD objectives in yearly budget)
  • Contribute to the yearly budget development plan (both CAPEX and development budget)
  • Transversal tasks within the business development community, including knowledge transfer and interaction with various internal stakeholders 


Business Understanding    

  • Good understanding of Power Generation technologies, battery storage, desalination, H2 andregional IPP template. Understanding of renewable energy is a plus

Reporting 

  • The Senior Business Developer will report to the Head of Business Development Asia, Middle East, Africa for Thermal & Supply 


Language

  • Excellent communication skill in English. Knowledge of French and/or Arabic is a plus.
     


Degree / Experience    

  • University degree in Economics, Finance or Engineering.
  • 8-12 years of experience in the Energy sector.
  • 4-6 years of BD experience. 


Specific Knowledge / skills     

  • Experience in the following technologies: renewables (wind/solar), desalination, CCGT/cogeneration, BESS, H2
  • Contract negotiation skills (EPC, PPA, Fuel Purchasing Agreements, SHA, Financing Agreements) 
  • Bidding experience in regional IPP tenders
  • Result oriented
  • Ability to work within tight timelines and to affirm project leadership
  • Team player
  • International and multidisciplinary experience.
  • Strong soft skills including mentoring, team spirit, ability to work with diverse experts and seek consensus
  • External interface /stakeholder management

Location/travel    

  • Dubai/ travels required within the region.
