The lead instrument – Electronic Tech’s duties include but are not limited to routine maintenance and repair of plant instrumentation and controls including emergency work and preventative maintenance. Typically, job functions would include such equipment as generator instrumentation and controls, DCS and PLC systems, particularly Bailey Network 90 systems, combustion control systems, alarms, recorders, transmitters, computers, etc.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement and carry out required plant maintenance functions and repairs at various sites. Must be self-motivated and able to perform all required job functions without direct supervision. Will be capable of directing and aiding plant maintenance personnel in performing their required duties and functions in addition to all plant related equipment repairs.
  • Will coordinate the activities of other maintenance and operational personnel as required and will be capable of conducting all necessary actions and functions independently and without direct supervision.
  • Will perform administrative functions as required by the Maintenance Management system, supervision or others in addition to requisitioning parts and material, contacting vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Will also be required to troubleshoot complex electronic control equipment down to the individual printed circuit board and component.
  • Perform other tasks as required to fulfill the operational and maintenance requirements of the various plants and equipment including housekeeping.
  • Perform all duties consistent with safe work practices as is generally practiced in industrial environments and also in accordance with established Employer safety practices and regulations as delineated in the Employer’s Safety Manual.
  • Will train bargaining unit personnel not familiar with the plant to assist in their skill development.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned


  • Will be required to work overtime to cover vacations, illnesses, absences, and other operational or maintenance requirements.
  • For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role. 

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting.


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 10 years experience working in instrumentation and controls field in a powerplant environment
  • Proficient in blueprint reading of electronic schematics
  • Proficient in process and instrumentation diagrams
  • Proficient in PLC Ladder logic trees
