Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

GEM manages one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe, including electricity, natural gas, bulk commodities and environmental products.

With 5 trading platforms and activities in more than 50 countries, GEM has an extended geographical coverage in Europe, Asia-Pacific and in the US. It employs 1,300 people around the world.

Main Activities:

Within GEM Finance, you will be part of the Finance Synthesis department whose main missions are to:

  • Coordinate the Monthly closing and the Budget exercise within GEM Finance:
    • Cascade Group instructions to GEM and define main deadlines;
    • Organize the gathering of information and ensure consistency with requirements.
  • Provide a consolidated view of GEM’s performance to GEM and Engie Managements:
    • Monitor regularly GEM results, including between closing periods through Trading tools;
    • Prepare the GEM performance review documentation which includes Financials, key messages and relevant analyses (QBR, LQU, PAMT…)
  • Produce the GEM monthly forecast for cash flow from operations in collaboration with local Finance and treasury team
  • Develop tools for the GEM Finance community. These tools aim at:
    • Providing view on the results to GEM Management and GEM Finance community;
    • Efficiently consolidating information from Divisions at GEM level;
    • Facilitating financial analyses
  • Act as the Center of Expertise of GEM for all accounting related issues (watch IFRS standards evolution, provide normative help to Financial Controllers, liaise with CENC whenever it is necessary). Analyze impacts of new accounting standards and supervise their implementation;
  • Ensure that proper internal control is in place and assist documentation of these controls;
  • Execute second look controlling over Southern and Central Europe activities ;
  • Coordinate or lead transversal Finance projects (e.g. common finance, control over Trade Receivables…);
  • Be the entry point for Group Finance, and in particular Engie FP&A.

 As a member of Finance Synthesis you will get a broad view of GEM activities, be involved in diverse topics and projects and be exposed to frequent contacts with GEM executive Management.

Education and professional background:

  • You have studied finance/management in a higher education institution (or equivalent experience)
  • You have more than 5-7  years' professional experience in Finance and Controlling in a complex environment
  • You have professional experience in the Energy / commodities trading sector

Hard skills:

  • You have strong capacity to challenge summarize complex information into meaningful key messages
  • You have a strong knowledge of accounting, consolidation, Financial Statements analysis and IFRS standards.
  • You have a good knowledge of the consolidation tool, and mainly SAP Financial Consolidation (ex-Magnitude)
  • Knowledge on industrial accounting (own use accounting) and trading accounting is definitely a plus
  • You have a strong affinity with IT systems (BI tools likePower BI for example) and a good capacity to automatize processes, reports and analyses
  • You are well-versed in office tools (in particular Excel and Powerpoint)

Soft skills:

  • You are continuous-improvement minded and keen to propose solutions for improving processes and tools
  • You are happy to work in team with a collaborative mindset
  • You are very proactive and responsive to ad-hoc requests
