The Energy Systems Design & Optimization Manager (the “Manager”) leads a technical team of engineers and project managers that:

  • Provide technical leadership to the business development team that acts as the in-house technical arm of the business development activities
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the local capital project teams when developing and executing technical projects on campuses, and
  • Bridge the innovations and technical lessons learned in between the local teams on campuses

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage the geographically diverse Energy Systems Design and Optimization group
  • Provide technical leadership to the business development team when in design, scope, schedule, cost estimates, and due diligence of energy systems
  • Provide technical leadership to the capital projects teams on campuses in design, scope, schedule, cost estimates.
  • Provide bandwidth and resource support to the capital projects teams on campuses in design, scope, schedule, cost estimates and execution.
  • Lead the digital solutions implementation on campuses
  • Act as center of excellence in terms of capturing technical innovations, new technologies and best practices in campus energy systems, and bring this know-how into our business and capital projects development and execution efforts.
  • Manage the near miss and incident investigations, root cause analysis, lessons learned and countermeasures process.
  • Liaise with Customer Delivery & Operations, and corporate Technical Services team
  • Liaise with ENGIE Labs and Technology Watch manager


  • Retain and develop the strategic-advantage technical skills and know-how of the Energy Systems Design and Optimization team.  Grow the group as necessary.
  • Attend internal meetings and conference calls, in person and remotely
  • Ability to travel to domestic site locations and customer meetings as needed
  • Maintain exceptional level of organization and professionalism
  • Consistently identify challenges and present resolutions, in support of long-term partnership goals
  • Operate within high-pressure environment as a part of a geographically diverse Major Partnerships and Campuses management team

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to work remotely with necessary telecommunications tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time


  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering
  • 7+ years of work experience in a related field
  • 3+ years experience in campus energy systems design, development, and construction
  • Experience in P3s is a plus
  • Experience presenting and speaking publicly to senior executives
  • Experience working within higher education environment preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
