The Role: Electrician

Perform skilled work in preventative maintenance, repair and replacement of electrical and electronic equipment, controls, systems and fixtures

Reports to
Maintenance Manager

Tamworth Power Station / Tamworth, NH

Hourly Non-exempt

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policies.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze High/Medium Voltage electrical equipment and system problems and take appropriate action to correct deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze electrical problems and take appropriate action to correct deficiencies.
  • Perform preventative and/or corrective mechanical maintenance on equipment in accordance with all local and national codes.
  • Identify, report and/or correct issues that would create an unsafe work environment.
  • Work to and maintain logic diagrams, electrical and mechanical drawings and sketches, and other written instructions.
  • Complete preventive, corrective maintenance and scheduled maintenance, and improve operation of systems, instruments, controls and metering and electrical equipment.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and must be insurable under the Company auto insurance program.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid state of NH electrical Journeyman license
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment, exhibit a positive attitude, understand and follow safety procedures, demonstrate effective communication skills (oral & written), and show initiative towards work.
  • Must have the ability to analyze electrical/electronic circuits, perform electrical/electronic testing
  • Ability to install, upgrade, and repair electrical equipment to include conduit, junction boxes, controllers, breakers, transformers and motors.
  • Proven ability to perform electrical maintenance on all electrical equipment.
  • Required to provide relief and support in other job classifications including but not limited to Operations or fuel yard.
  • Ability to respond to plant emergencies on a 24 hour basis.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to maintain equipment availability

Essential Physical Abilities
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. 
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing, sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks, stacks and the like as required); stooping; squatting; crouching; crawling; kneeling; reaching; grasping; pushing; pulling; lifting (min. 50lbs); feeling; talking and hearing
  • Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals. 
  • Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like) as required.
  • Must be physically capable of performing demanding work at various heights and in adverse conditions during operations, shutdowns, and in fire/emergency activities.
  • Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses etc.
  • Ability to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test

A.A. Degree in Electrical Technology preferred.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Five (5) years industrial electrical experience preferred.
Experience with High/Medium Voltage systems and equipment preferred.
Advanced knowledge of transformers, motors, controllers, switchgear, relays, AC/DC systems.
Understanding of plant systems and boiler controls preferred.
Working Environment (Indoors – 70% Outdoors – 30%)
