What you bring:

  • High School Degree or GED equivalent required, Trade/Vocational School and/or Military Training preferred
  • 2+ years’ relevant experience and/or training; licenses, endorsements or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Associate’s (AAS) degree in Automation & Instrumentation (A&I) or Electronics Engineering Technology (EET)
  • Other/similar technical programs of study may be considered
  • In lieu of an AAS degree, 4+ years of direct work experience with industrial automation and controls may be considered
  • Recent graduate with Bachelor’s degree in Applied Automation, Electronics, Instrumentation, or other Engineering Technology discipline
  • An AAS degree with 2+ years of experience working in industrial automation and controls.
  • 4+ years of that experience in electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instrumentation required (steam/ electrical generation plant preferred) or 2+ years experience in electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instrumentation and graduation from a two-year electrical or instrumentation and control program is required
  • 1+ years experience with PLCs or DCS experience
  • Experience in maintenance of gas, solid fuel-fired boiler controls, and turbine controls water plant preferred
  • Experience working with a CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) preferred
  • Must have troubleshooting and maintenance skills in CEMs, DCS, PLCs, Supervisor Control Systems, medium voltage electricity, and related control systems
  • Strong computer background in PCs, distributed logic controllers (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and pneumatics
  • Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, schematics, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, single line, and control wire diagrams and interpret and execute written instructions, and the ability to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes
  • Accountable to immediate supervisor for ensuring adherence to the Plant’s Safety and Environmental Programs, taking all reasonable precautions to prevent incidents of noncompliance.  Shall immediately report any known or suspected violations to your Supervisor and/or Management Personnel
  • Perform and document pre-job hazard assessment and provide pre-job briefs as needed.

  • On-call as needed/deemed necessary by Management.
  • For this position, you must have evidence of the right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, control system drawings, and repair manuals
  • Skilled in calibrating utility instrumentation
  • Ability to install and configure control system hardware and software
  • Ability to perform basic math computations
  • Ability to maintain records and system documentation
  • Ability to analyze system problems, recommend and implement system changes
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with other department personnel, vendors and suppliers, students, staff, and the general public
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to train and instruct
