ENGIE are recruiting for a Design and Quality Control Manager  to be based in Wath Up Dearne / Leeds . This is a permanent/temporary full-timerole working 35 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary  and benefits package.

General Overview:

To drive product design and innovation of LIFEstyle products to ensure fit for purpose as life -long care ready homes/communities

Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

Standard house types:

  • Responsible for the procurement of design works to produce all standard house types for LIFEstyle to respond to the Life Long standard requirement.

  • To support site appraisals to feed into the viability of each project (bidding) stage.

  • Procure and mange design works throughout feasibilities and the planning process in association with the land and partnerships team.

  • Ensure detailed technical plans are produced for inclusion within the key ‘sign off ‘stages 

  • Ensure the production of a Site on start technical handover

  • Ensure the production of annual ‘Design review’ LIFEstyle / RL portfolio of properties

  • Investigate the technical viability of alternative – including modern methods, of construction

Increase Supply Chain base - sub-contractor’s & Suppliers 

  • Identify new Design Partners, to support the evolution of LIFEstyle homes and environment

  • Ensure prices are obtained on standard house types on partnering agreement basis.

  • Improve relationships with existing Supply-chain and resolve issues that may arise clearly communicate requirements

Procure New Site Starts:

  • Ensure Pre-start planning is supported by technical due diligence

  • Ensure timely delivery of technical and design information

  • Provide technical input into pre-start meetings

  • Provide technical input into pre-start presentations

Monitor & Control Build Quality:

  • Oversee ‘Design-to-complete’ reporting

  • Manage the implementation of new LIFEstyle RL house types

  • Support the drive for zero carbon homes implementing energy efficiency KPIs 

  • Provide technical input to promote future innovations

  • Ensure supply-chain (trade) specifications are current and comply with building regulations

Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience:

  • Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Diploma and/or Degree in technical and engineering Management 
  • Previous extensive experience of working for house builder in a similar role or on speculative residential developments for at least 5 years.
  • Experience of Building Regulations, Design standards and DDA
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of Development processes
  • Communicate effectively with all those who have a stake in the LIFEstyle pipeline
  • Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to negotiate and influence  
  • Mentor and support others and the ability to manage a team
