ENGIE has an immediate opening for a Custodian at the Longwood Medical Energy Complex in Boston, MA.  The Custodian will provide assistance of the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, performs general cleaning duties including storage areas, office areas, stairways, locker rooms, lunch room, bathrooms, plant laboratory, instrument shops, soundproof booths, control room, and other areas of the plant as directed.  Assists uniform vendor in the distribution of uniforms, shop towels, and runners.  Maintains exterior walks and driveways.
 
What you’ll do:
  • Performs cleaning of plant office, storage areas, locker rooms, stairways, satellite facilities, and other areas as required
  • Collects and disposes of all plant rubbish.
  • Cleans and dusts furniture and fixtures, washes walls and windows in plant and office areas
  • Assists uniform vendor in the collection and distribution of uniforms, wipers, and runners
  • Maintains the plant’s exterior and walks, including groundskeeping, window cleaning, trash collection and removal, sweeping of walks and passageways, and snow removal from walkways and driveways
  • May participate in company fire brigade
  • Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and company standards and, where applicable, local, state, and federal laws
  • Must participate in mandatory training, and other programs
 

What you bring:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one to two years applicable experience
  • Requires individual with a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Must be detail oriented and able to take direction
  • A willingness to acquire new skills and utilize technology to streamline processes and problem solve is essential
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License preferred
  • This is a Union position
  
Additional Information/Conditions:
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 65 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead
  • Must be able to tolerate dust and other airborne particles and other materials such as diesel and lube oils
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, high-lifts, and in confined spaces
