The Role: Construction QA/QC Manager


Purpose
The Construction QA/QC Manager is responsible for ensuring that all materials and installations conform with the QA/QC requirements of our utility scale solar park and substation, located near Danville, VA .

Essential Job Functions
  • Supervise site project QA/QC programs in compliance with corporate QA/QC Program Standards.
  • Assist with the development of QA/QC Report Forms and with associated document controls.
  • Communicate and coordinate with material suppliers and installation contractors to ensure that all QA/QC requirements are understood and shall be met. 
  • QA/QC oversight will include inspections of delivered materials and of the installation of the work and project equipment including civil work, fencing, piles, racking, inverters and electrical work.
  • Hire, Train, mentor and manage on-site QA/QC monitoring staff.
  • Coordinate QA/QC staff levels and schedules with the installation Contractors to ensure all necessary inspections and reporting is accomplished without impacting the pace of the installations.
  • Prepare 3-week Look Ahead Schedules to be incorporated into the overall project 3-week Look Ahead Schedule.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary logs and reports.
  • Oversee that all QA/QC inspection forms, reports and logs are properly named and uploaded into our file system.


Requirements
  • Solar Experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experienced with managing a small staff.
  • Takes a collaborative approach to getting the work done.
  • Physical ability to conduct regular site walks.



Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting.



Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience; 2 years QA/QC experience preferred.
