Mission

 

The AI&FA Financial Advisor will join the Acquisitions, Investments & Financial Advisory (AI&FA) department and will be responsible for the financial analysis, valuation, structuring and project financing activities in support of ENGIE’s operations in Chile.

 

Although the main responsibility and focus is Chile, flexibility is required to be able to support the work (as and when required) in other countries within LATAM.

 

Reporting

 

The position, as part of the cluster BU LATAM, will report to the Head of AIFA for Chile and Peru.

 

Main Areas of Responsibility

 

The Financial Advisor’s responsibilities include:

·     Perform economic and financial analysis of projects through modelling and valuation;

·     Structure projects, advise on risk allocation, appropriate mitigation factors and contingencies, hedging strategy, bankability issues, optimisation & tax structuring;

·     Establish projects’ impacts on financing and accounting at local and ENGIE Group level (where required with the support of relevant expertise centres and/or external consultants);

·     Prepare files for investment decision, including relevant sensitivity analysis;

·     Structuring of appropriate financing plans, the case being on a non-recourse basis, including selection of funding sources / institutions, terms negotiation, etc.;

·     Maintain market intelligence, screen opportunities, monitor and assess competitors’ approach to financing/funding projects;

·     Handle non-project related AI&FA activities (e.g. annual impairment tests, lookbacks, etc);

Support other areas on valuation, structuring and risk analysis.

Degree / Experience

·     Degree in economics, finance, business administration, engineering or equivalent;

·     Additional post-graduates such as Master in Finance, Business Administration or CFA equivalent is a plus;

·     Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 year experience in leading or participating in M&A transactions, competitive bidding processes and/or leading the structuring and execution of complex project financings.

 

Specific Knowledge / Skills 

·     Strong economics foundations – including in particular FX dynamics;

·     Proficient understanding of corporate finance theory (e.g. valuation, financing vs. investing etc.) and good basis on broader theory of finance;

·     Proven and proficient understanding of non-recourse financing markets and of debt and equity capital markets;

·     Good understanding of accounting topics and tax structures;

 

·     Behavioural capabilities: a self-starting person with strong team player’s attitude, problem solving skills, leadership, common sense and a good sense of humour;

·     Strong negotiating skills;

·     Strong and proven analytical skills, including proficient financial modelling;

·     Planning ability and capacity to deliver on plans and on time;

·     Presence and interpersonal credibility to represent the company with key financial stakeholders, banks, financial institutions, government agencies / departments and partners;

·     Ability to multitask and to work effectively under pressure;

 

·     Languages: fluent Spanish and English. French valuable.

 

Business Understanding

·     Sound understanding of the power and gas business and market dynamics, power forecasts including long term forecasts’ key drivers;

·     Good knowledge of the competitive environment faced in LatAm and in particular in Chile;

·     Direct knowledge and experience of business environment (or even better power and/or gas business) in Chile.


 Location / Travel

 Santiago (Chile). On few occasions travel to other LATAM countries and outside the LATAM region possible.
