JOB PURPOSE:

Field Operator is responsible for safe operation, local monitoring, control and emergency handling of the RO plant equipment during shift operations in accordance with established procedures and dispatch requirements.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Ensures that the Local Equipment’s are operated and monitored as per established procedure in order to meet the dispatch instructions received from the Water Control Centre.
  • Operation, control, monitoring and emergency handling of local equipment from local PLC / SCADA.
  • Carry over the RO equipment start-up and shutdown as per the standard operation procedure (SOP).
  • Coordinate with Shift Engineers (SE) / Control Room Operator for Work Permit Isolations i.e. in isolating the equipment for Maintenance activities.
  • Collect local data for normalized permeate flow, normalised salt passage and normalised differential pressure calculation by using membrane normalization software program.
  • Preparing and maintaining the data for Daily and Monthly reports.
  • Closely monitor the chemical dosing system operation.
  • Help in Chemical Unloading and chemical stock monitoring.
  • Help in the chemical Cleanings, Flushing , Preservation (CIP) activities as and when required
  • Taken active participation in all types of operation activities, diagnosis and troubleshooting of Desalination Facility.
  • Record local data for shift reports and data reports in accordance with the WPA, O&M Agreement and Company procedures.
  • Records the routine data from local in the Shift Log Sheet.
  • Performs and monitors equipment changeovers and ensures healthiness of standby equipment.
  • Monitors the operational parameters of the systems and equipment and identifies the out of specification operations and suggests the corrective measures that need to be taken.
  • Supports the O&M Manager /Shift Engineer in performing Incidents Report and Root Cause Analysis and recommends corrective actions.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY:

  • Responsible for the safe local operation of the Desalination plant in the shift.
  • To be aware to the Engie Yanbu for O&M Company Emergency Response Procedure and follows it in case of Emergency.
  • Responsible as Designated Person/Issuer under Company Safety Rule
  • Comply with Local legislations, Engie Yanbu for O&M company HSES Policy and procedures.
  • To be Responsible and accountable for safety of himself, others and the environmental protection.
  • Report and mitigate unsafe acts/conditions, near misses and accidents.
  • The Job Holder will work in a controlled hazardous environment.

 

Work Levels and Conditions and Risks:

  • Work Level 5 (OSHA scale 1 to 6): the tasks that he performs as part of their daily work activities represent risks and are controlled by means of procedures, supervision, safety devices and HSE Teams in such a way that its non-observance that could lead to a serious accident or even death.

 

Exposure to Risks:

  • Traffic/automobile accidents, ergonomic problems and accidents;
  • Risks inherent to the job while performing inspections, site visits, operations and maintenance activities, etc.

Medical Exams/Laboratory Exams before Taking the Position:

  • Complete medical physical examination;
  • Visual acuity examination.
  • Color blindness test
  • PFT (lung capacity)
  • Audiometric test

 

Recommended for persons older than 45 years:

  • Laboratory tests: complete blood biometrics, blood chemistry: 3 elements (glucose, urea and creatine) and a general exam of urine;
  • Electrocardiogram;
  • X-ray PA of thorax.

 

Medical Criteria for the Position:

  • High Blood Pressure: not to present a TA greater than 135/85 in case of present alteration and individual monitoring program;
  • Obesity: in case of obesity, implement a monitoring and reduction of weight program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Essential Qualifications:

  • B. Sc. Engineering/Diploma in either of Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
  • 1 to 2 Years of industry experience in the field of Water Treatment/MSF/MED/RO or Power Plant.

Experience:

One to two years experience in Water treatment process with a real focus on Reverse Osmosis plant operations.
Experience in SWRO commissioning and startup will be preferred.
Experience in GCC market will be preferred.
Ability to interpret PI&D and technical drawings

 

Skills:

 

  • Fair process knowledge of different stages of Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination System i.e. Pre-Treatment to Reverse Osmosis to Potabilisation (Remineralisation) System.
  • Understands the SWRO process from Pre-Treatment to Reverse Osmosis to Potabilisation.
  • Knowledge of critical parameters to be monitored at different stages of water production process.
  • Knowledge of necessary precautions to avoid membrane Fouling, Scaling or physical and chemical damage to membranes.
  • Understands and operates the Equipment within the regulatory and contractual obligations and as per the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidelines.
  • Know and understands the basics of Thermodynamics, Instrumentation, Controls, Mechanical and Electrical systems related to Desalination Plant.
  • Be able to understand the Process and Instrument Diagram, Single Line Diagram, Logic Diagrams and explain the functioning of different systems.
  • Identify all normal operating parameters and important alarm set points of different systems.
  • Be able to draw system Flow Diagrams, showing all major components, flow paths, valves, and field instrumentations.
  • Understand the important Permissive, Protections and Interlocks of different systems.
  • Takes all the safety precautions while start up, shut down and normal operation of the systems.

Able to analyze an alarm and take proper action in response to the alarms.

Language:

 

  • English Language: excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Arabic is an advantage;

 

Computer:

 

  • Computer literate: Must have reasonable degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Maintenance Management System;
