The Construction Health & Safety Advisor directs, develops, and ensures implementation of a Health and Safety (H&S) Management System that encompasses standards of excellence, programs, policies, procedures and processes (4Ps) for ENGIE North America (ENA). Responsible for partnering with all Business Entities and Operating Companies’ H&S staff to influence an organizational culture that leads to an injury free working environment.
This role reports to the Director, Field Services and Safety and sits in the (Denver) Westminster, CO location.

What you’ll do:
- Develop a health & safety strategic plan in collaboration with executive leadership and H&S staff throughout ENGIE North America. The plan must address working environments in construction projects for new wind, solar and BESS power generation field sites and energy distribution plants, new special projects involving solar, BESS and wind sites, facility O&M management
- Manage H&S databases and provides required monthly statistical reports to ENGIE NA Business Unit (BU) corporate and Business Entity (BE) executives. Tracks the performance and progress of ENGIE Renewables and Services action plans, programs and processes
- Conduct regular onsite safety audits, training, guidance, compliance audits, incident investigations, and safety cultural assessments
- Lead all serious incident investigations that result in a medical treated injuries and lost time accident
- Apply Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools when conducting investigations to determine causal factors. Identifies countermeasures to prevent recurrence and eliminate deviations from the standard
- Provide guidance and acts as a role model for Renewables H&S full time professionals, plant managers, front line supervisors and general foreperson (supervisor) in the effective implementation of the 4Ps
- Design the ENA H&S Management System in accordance with the ISO 18001 standard Ensures conformance to the standard results in compliance to the regulation
- Research new or revised OSHA (US) / OH&S Act (Canada) regulatory requirements Anticipate changes and updates the 4Ps as required with follow on training for effective implementation
- Validate safety requirements of third-party H&S auditors, consultants and contractors
- Implements a communication strategy that promotes leadership engagement between management, front line supervisors, foreperson (Supervisor), technician / craft personnel and contractors to create a culture where H&S is a principle and not a priority
- Implement an observation program that focuses on pre-job/task activities. Ensure the Job Safety Plan process permeates down to the granularity of the specific task assigned
- Benchmark the current state of power generation, O&M service and construction-oriented safe work procedures against a “Best in Class” standard. Orchestrates plans to close identified gaps in coordination with ENGIE NA BE H&S staff
- Coordinate reviews on contractor safety plans and procedures to assure their standard is equal or more stringent than ENGIE NA’s safety criteria as stipulated in the procurement Terms & Conditions
- Conduct process safety assessments at sites with operations and maintenance responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- Associates Degree in Safety Management, Engineering or Business required, or Equivalent Military or Trade school considered; Bachelor’s Degree a plus
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in commercial and industrial construction environments
- Subject matter expert in OSHA (US) CFR 29 Parts 1910 / 1926 and OH&S Act (Canada) regulations
- Exhibit mastery of root cause failure analysis tools and their application for recordable events
- Possess superior verbal, written, interpersonal, public speaking, facilitation and presentation communication skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with behavioral science and the psychology behind influencing change
- Experience in commercial and industrial construction environments
- Exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence as a team leader in the creation of a desire-based vs. compliance-based safety culture
- Proficient in database management, Pareto analyses and the design of executive level dashboard / graphical displays in direct support of essential job functions
- In-depth knowledge of the change management process
Additional Information/Conditions:
- Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be able to travel independently to field locations in ENA across US and Canada up to 50% of the time
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and enter confined spaces as required to complete safety audits and assess job site conditions for working environment hazards
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- The position consists of 30% work indoors and 70% work outdoors, outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use a company computer, calculator
- Could involve some lifting / up to 35 lbs

- Salary Range: $102,630.00 – $171,380.00 USD, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
