To work within the ENGIE US Operations Solar team as a Solar Groundskeeper means to protect and cultivate the site’s vegetation management processes. This position provides a key component in the maintenance and care of grounds, roads, land and foliage on large a utility scale solar sites with the highest regard for health, safety and environment compliance.

 

The River FerrySolar Project is located in West Union, IL.  A successful candidate must be willing to reside within an hour of the site.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure site safety rules are communicated and adhered to through Site Specific Orientations, JSAs and Tailboard Meetings for all activities
  • Operate tractor and mowing equipment to maintain grounds to keep the vegetation from shading solar panels
  • Utilize hand trimming equipment as necessary to support these activities
  • Safe utilization of chemicals to facilitate weed removal and control
  • Manage contractors to support groundskeeping activities as necessary
  • Operate tractor and grading equipment to provide maintenance on roads and building areas
  • Provide preventative maintenance and small maintenance activities on groundskeeping equipment and vehicles to ensure site equipment is kept at the highest possible standard maximizing availability and reliability.
  • Perform equipment cleaning necessary to maintain in a clean and neat condition
  • Travel to other Engie solar and wind sites to perform groundskeeping tasks.  Utilize truck and trailer to transport this equipment to other sites. 
  • Become a point of contact for all landowners
  • Use computerized Work Order, Purchase Requisition and Receiving software
  • Work to support solar technicians as necessary
  • Required to be on call as deemed necessary by Supervisor
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

 

What you bring:

  • Minimum completion of High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in using tractors and mowing or related farming equipment
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Experience in troubleshooting, repair and maintain various groundskeeping equipment including;  tractor, mower, box blades, grapples, weed removal equipment, sprayers
  • Capacity to attend training to support solar and wind operational activities
  • Must be able to personally respond to plant emergencies
  • The ability to travel to support other Engie renewable generation facilities; overnight stays if necessary
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements with the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally in English.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing, sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks, stacks and the like as required); stooping; squatting; crouching; crawling; kneeling; reaching; grasping; pushing; pulling; lifting (min. 50lbs); feeling; talking and hearing.
  • Capable of performing repetitive motions as required.
  • Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals.
  • Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to - fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, arc-flash clothing, etc.
  • Must be able to operate a computer terminal (or have the capability of learning), calculator, etc. to enter work orders, document work histories and equipment maintenance
  • Able and willing to perform first aid and CPR

 

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be available to travel up to 15% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record (will they drive a company or personal car)
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The position consists of 20% work indoors and 80% work outdoors, outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs

  • Salary Range: $42,845 – $68,685 USD, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors 
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
