In this role, the Director of Energy Delivery will be responsible for managing the overall operation and maintenance of the plant, ensuring safe and efficient operations of the facility, and managing plant business, KPIs and budget issues with home office interface as required. This position is located in Washington, DC. and reports to the Vice President of Operations.

What you’ll do:

 

  • Responsible for all day-to-day operation, maintenance, fiscal and administrative functions of the facility and for achieving company and group activities
  • Liaison with the concession agreement director on items related to the customer, capex projects and other activities that may affect delivery of services to Georgetown University 
  • Communicate all outstanding issues to the Concession Agreement Director in a timely manner 
  • Implement and maintains the Engie One Safety Program and Process Safety program (IND2-3) 
  • Manage all areas of responsibility consistent with: federal, state, and local regulations and environmental requirements; company policies and procedures; company’s annual operations plan; legal and contractual requirements; and good utility practices while operating in a clean, safe, efficient and economical manner. 
  • Take all necessary actions to protect the facility’s operating permits. 
  • Ensure that all staff have a commitment to understanding and providing services to the customer while avoiding KPI penalties. 
  • Carry out all responsibilities under environmental legislation; develops and ensures adherence to proper procedures to prevent environmental spills; monitors, records, and reports all plant emissions; properly reports emissions deviations and non-compliances, and environmental spills; assures proper training of personnel on transportation of dangerous goods; promotes awareness for the environment and the requirements of environmental compliance. 
  • Approve, or as required submits for approval, documents and procedures that will be used in the plant
  • Utilize a computer-based automated maintenance management system to: organize equipment commissioning, operations and maintenance files; to identify trends; to take corrective action; and to maintain equipment performance by maximizing plant capacity factor, availability, performance and efficiency 
  • Utilize efficient business and management principles including budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources 
  • Oversee and manage daily operations, safety, production, efficiency improvement, quality control, maintenance, receiving, and shipping 
  • Lead outage management, facility maintenance and capital improvements 
  • Serve as the single point of contact for, and the primary liaison between the customer at Georgetown University for all services required under the Management Agreement
  • Managing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring all scheduled maintenance and unscheduled maintenance services performed directly by provider’s personnel or by subcontractors
  • Manage, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring all repairs
  • Document preventive maintenance work within the CMMS 
  • Ensure environmental governmental authorization requirements are met and reports are available in a timely manner as provided in the management agreement
  • All other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations 
  • Manage a safety program that complies with all federal and state requirements insuring the safe operation of the power plant with regard to the public, employees and plant installation. 
  • Promote a safety-minded working environment and safety programs consistent with the Engie One Safety Program
  • Conduct at least 10 management safety walkdowns per year and ensures all other leadership at the site does the same 
  • Work closely with the O&M team to implement risk based programs 
  • Lead the team to conduct safety walkdowns, implement and improve leading safety indicators, promote the 9-Life Saving Rules, lead the Virtual Safety Walkdowns and leads the team through all other ENGIE safety initiatives 
  • Monitor activities of the Plant Safety Committee, and ensures its effectiveness 
  • Cooperate with Loss Control/Safety Consultants from property and casualty insurance carriers and responds to their recommendations in a timely manner 
  • Coordinate with and promptly report all losses and claims to the corporate Risk Manager
  • Prepare and is responsible for the execution of emergency plans
  • Set objectives for his/her team; manages site personnel in the proper performance of assigned duties and maintains a record of their performance through regular, formal evaluations; and makes recommendations for their merit increases and incentive pay
  • Oversee training to enhance site employees’ technical knowledge in the safe operation and maintenance of the facility and its capital equipment
  • Ensure employee policies and procedures are followed by all site personnel; ensure the manual has been distributed to all employees and that the policies outlined within are reasonably understood by all staff members 
  • Ensure fair implementation of complaint procedures
  • Administer appropriate disciplinary action in a fair and consistent manner, supported by clear, concise and thorough documentation of events and actions resulting in the need for discipline
  • Provide/coordinate relief for operations and/or maintenance supervisor as needed
  • Recruit, hire, and train personnel
  • Communicate regularly with Engie company representatives (VP of Operations, Engineering & Human Resources) for exchange, consultation, guidance and required approvals 
  • Maintain good relations with suppliers, customers, vendors, service providers, governmental authorities, and contractors
  • Ensure good public and community relations on behalf of the facility and the company
  • Ensure the efficient and economical operation and maintenance of the facility 
  • Deliver semi-annual KPI training to the on-site personnel and works diligently to ensure services are uninterrupted to the customer thus avoiding any KPI penalties 
  • Ensure prompt, timely and accurate reporting as required by company policies and procedures and other governmental and contractual requirements 
  • Prepare annual operating plans, budgets and controls for operating at budgeted levels with appropriate justification and approval for variances including site outages (complaint with dispatching needs) and operating shift schedules to accommodate facility operation and scheduled maintenance 
  • Monitor budget variances on a regular basis and prepares/monitors long term budget forecasts
  • Provide monthly variances reports on a timely manner
  • Follow up, assisted by the Project Director, with the proper execution of commercial contracts and assists in bringing solutions to any argument that may arise
  • Ensure prompt invoicing to/from customers and service providers to prevent accounts receivable and Accounts Payable from become overdue

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering is a “plus”, with five (5) years experience in a related industry; or technical diploma or associates degree and ten (10) years’ experience in a industry.  Must demonstrate a strong technical and managerial capability, 
  • Five (5) years previous experience in supervision of technical, operating or maintenance personnel 
  • Strong leadership/management/communication skills
  • Strong organizational/prioritizing skills
  • Ability to make significant independent judgments
  • Being a Present and Active Leader that leads the Team by example

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

The position consists of 80% work indoors and 20% work outdoors, outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions

Work at heights and with adverse conditions during operation and when participating in fire and emergency activities

Eyesight corrected to 20/40 to accurately read and interpret instruments and gauge Pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test

Hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication

Ability to meet highest attendance requirements

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally

Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

Ability to use a company computer, calculator

  • Salary Range: $ 170,400 – $283,560 USD, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
