Business Development Senior Advisor

As our Business Development (BD)  Senior Advisor you will be located in an area with easy access to large airport and will directly support our Major Campuses  business with a focus on the New England area. Our business is making it possible for Campuses (Cities, Universities, airports among others) to devote their resources to their core missions.  The Senior Advisor is responsible for developing district energy project opportunities, from origination to successful closure by coordinating commercial, financial, legal and technical activities. The opportunities may involve green field/brown field development, public-private partnership, concessions or acquisition of existing district energy assets or portfolio of assets. The Senior Advisor is expected to closely collaborate with the rest of the business development team and all internal specialists creating a tangible contribution to ENGIE’s expansion in the district energy market.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate and manage a team of experts during the due diligence and development phases to assess business opportunities. Disciplines include technical, operations, finance, legal, human resources, transition, IT, procurement, insurance, and other relevant functions 
  • Originate new opportunities. Use your network and create new contacts to create opportunities. Interact with different market participants (consultants, investment banks, equity funds, engineering companies among others) to identify opportunities  
  • Lead customer meetings, proposal processes & contract negotiations, working with the different internal teams, understanding the customers’ needs and the different stakeholders  
  • Continue to build ENGIE’s competitiveness with financial, technical, and contractual optimizations 
  • Ensure strategic alignment with ENIGE’s Headquarters and the Energy Solutions Global Business Unit
  • Manage the internal approval process, including presentations to Local Management and Global Business Unit  
  • Collaborate with the Transition Management team to ensure a smooth transition into operations are an integral part of the business development process  

 

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or a related field required   
  • 10 years of work experience in a related business development field 
  • Experience in district heating and cooling energy systems or power generation design, development, and construction is desirable 
  • Commercial, negotiation and structuring skills 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – excels in driving clarity and results and working in an independent and self-guided manner 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presenting effectively and speaking publicly to senior executives 
  • Strong negotiation skills and effective interaction with executive level decision makers 
  • Demonstrated financial, business, and contractual acumen, and social intelligence 

 

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must be available to travel as required by business opportunities
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use a company issued computer

  • Working Environment: 
    • Position requires combination of office environment setting and some exposure to outdoor environments
    • Sitting and standing for periods of time, limited amount of climbing and crawling could be required in some circumstances
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to weather conditions
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Salary Range: $112,000.00 – $172,500.00 USD, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors 
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
