What You Can Expect

As our Equipment Operator 3rd Class, you will be responsible for assisting in the safe, legal, reliable, and cost-efficient operation and maintenance of campus utility production and distribution systems, including steam, chilled water, condensate, and domestic water.

 

This role will work from drawings and must be capable of are not available.  Other responsibilities include analyzing plant processes, recommending, and implementing improvements. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor.

 

You will: 

  • Under general supervision, assist in the operation, monitoring and maintenance of all utility system equipment
  • Check chemical analysis of boiler, condensate return, chilled water and condenser water system.  Adjust chemical treatment to specified ranges established by chemical treatment company
  • Record and monitor equipment operating conditions and report or adjust as required to maintain safe and efficient operations
  • Participate in repair, maintenance, installation and upkeep of all Central Plant equipment and work areas
  • Translate and communicate operational problems to all levels of management
  • Review operational manuals, technical manuals and plant procedures
  • Be able to understand and operate complex operation of high-pressure steam and chilled water systems which can be operated several ways depending on operational needs

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years training or experience in trade practice of steam engineering 
  • Must have a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineers License
  • Possession a CFC certification or the desire to obtain one  

 

Additional Details

This role requires attendance at a worksite daily

Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/ will drive company vehicle

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

This position consists of 20% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

Must operate intuitively from previous knowledge in troubleshooting gauges and instruments on equipment to bring about satisfactory operation

 

Compensation

Hourly: $41.00 USD

Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by1199 SEIU-United Healthcare Workers East. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union. 

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
