3. JOB PURPOSE
|
- Perform day-to-day electrical operations and maintenance on wind turbines, solar equipment, and balance of plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. This includes electrical troubleshooting, inspections, reporting, and compliance with safety and quality standards
|
4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
|
Safety and Compliance
- Understand and comply with all Plant Safety Guidelines, OHS Act requirements, and company HSE policies.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices and maintain an injury-free environment.
- Follow permit to work systems and plant emergency procedures.
- Ensure contractors comply with safety and quality requirements.
Operations & Maintenance
- Assist in supervising and overseeing daily plant electrical operations and maintenance activities to meet operational targets.
- Develop and follow operational and maintenance procedures aligned with OEM guidelines, company policies, and legal requirements.
- Conduct routine electrical inspections and maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) on plant equipment including wind turbines and related electrical systems.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including MV and HV electrical systems.
- Manage tools, spares, and consumables inventory efficiently to support maintenance activities.
- Operate SCADA systems for monitoring and troubleshooting (knowledge of SCADA systems is an advantage).
- Support warranty claims, punch lists, and liaise with contractors and vendors.
- Assist with administrative and procurement processes related to maintenance.
- Ensure statutory inspections compliance
- Assist with annual budget process
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit reports on plant status, maintenance activities, and recommendations to management.
- Record maintenance jobs and inspections accurately.
- Contribute to yearly and multi-year maintenance plans.
Teamwork & Leadership
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, other departments, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Lead by example with high ethical standards and ownership of tasks.
- Support a positive, inclusive work culture respecting diversity and open communication.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Physically fit and GWO weight limit of 100kg.
- Must not have a fear of heights (work requires climbing and working at height on turbines).
- Willingness to work overtime, standby, and travel to company sites as required.

5. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

- Strong electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Practical knowledge of medium and high voltage electrical systems.
- Competent in operating and interpreting SCADA systems.
- Good organizational and inventory management skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and electrical drawings.
- Proficient in report writing and documentation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal in English
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Physically capable of climbing and working at heights safely
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills

7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
|
- Minimum: Red Seal Electrical qualification with MV switching experience.
- At least 3 years’ experience in electrical maintenance within industrial or power plant environments (wind power experience an advantage).
- Electrical troubleshooting experience, including MV/HV systems.
- Familiarity with isolation, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and safe work systems.
- Knowledge or certification in GWO, quality management (ISO), and SCADA advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience
