What You Can Expect

As our Utility Plant Operator II, you will monitor and operate all utility plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Your operational responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, all current and future ENGIE-operated utility plants and systems on campus. You will be responsible for monitoring and regulating the performance of plant machinery and equipment, which may include natural gas/oil-fired boilers, turbines, emergency diesel generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, electric motors, fans, piping systems, water treatment systems, and other equipment related to campus utility operations. Additional duties include troubleshooting, maintaining, and cleaning plant equipment; completing logs and recordkeeping; and adhering to all operating, safety, and environmental standards. This role requires working a 12-hour shift and being available for emergency call-ins.

This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.

 

You will:

  • Take plant readings, monitor utility system performance, conduct water testing and make changes as necessary to provide reliable and efficient plant operations
  • Respond to alarms and utility system conditions
  • Perform troubleshooting and inspection activities
  • Complete startup, shutdown and Lock Out/Tagout of equipment
  • Review and update plant SOP’s and training material
  • Operate current and future utility plant equipment including but not limited to boilers, turbines, chillers, air compressors, emergency generators and associated equipment
  • Assist in training new engineers
  • Maintain and clean plant equipment and building
  • Gather information relevant to previous shifts and deliver relevant information to oncoming shift

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of High school diploma or equivalent
  • State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer’s License

 

Additional Details

This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis;
Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM), every other weekend and some holidays

Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license; will drive company vehicle

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

This position consists of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

 

Compensation

Hourly Range: $38.80 to $40.90 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
