What You Can Expect

As our Transactional Tax Intern, you will be involved in reviewing tax transactions related to the utility (retail power/gas) markets: Sales/Use, Gross Receipts, Utility User Tax. You will work a hybrid schedule from our Houston, TX offices.  The internship work term will be January 5, 2026 - May 29, 2026, part-time 20 hours per week minimum.

  

You will support the Transactional Tax team in topics such as:

  • Transaction analysis, general ledger review
  • Commercial implications as it relates to exemptions
  • Risk allocation
  • Tax research pertaining to contracts and taxing jurisdiction

 

You will also assist in preparation of journal entries and tax filings. You will be reporting to the Tax manager.

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You are an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Tax, Accounting or Finance
  • An understanding of basic accounting principles: journal entries, debits/credits, account reconciliation and general ledger
  • Working experience in EXCEL
  • Outstanding analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed excel files

 

Additional Details

Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

Compensation

Hourly Range: $24.50 to $33.50 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
