Position Mission: Responsible for leading the Middle Office function across gas and power trading activities, with a focus on hedging operations and commodities controls. Accountable for the oversight of physical position management and comprehensive P&L reporting, while designing and implementing robust internal control frameworks to ensure data integrity and mitigate operational and financial risks.

Key responsibilities include the strategic coordination and optimization of economic and accounting hedge programs, ensuring full alignment with the Group guidelines and international financial reporting standards (IFRS 9, NIF C-10, US GAAP); and assure strategic conduit between key functions, including Treasury, Risk Management, Accounting, and Controlling, facilitating effective communication and alignment of objectives.

Your Impact: As Trading Accounting Manager, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to our mission by performing the following key functions:

  • Trading P&L management: Prepare, validate, and explain daily and monthly P&L variances, breaking down the impact of price, basis, volume, and FX movements.

  • Independent valuation: Validate forward prices, energy curves, and derivative valuation models, ensuring independence from the trading function.
  • Balance sheet consistency: Manage the interactions with accounting in GBS and at group level to ensure consistency over time of balance sheet of the legal entities of S&EM, including trading.
  • FX strategy optimization: Identify net USD/MXN exposure, assess forwards and swaps, and propose natural hedging schemes.
  • Responsible for overseeing internal controls from S&EM business side, ensuring full compliance with applicable policies and regulations. Actively develops and implements enhancements to strengthen control frameworks, guaranteeing the accurate and timely reflection of trading activities in the financial statements of the companies and Group reporting.
  • Cross-functional coordination: Collaborate with trading, treasury, risk, and accounting teams to ensure the accurate valuation and documentation of derivative financial instruments, by developing and implementing mechanisms that incorporate credit and liquidity risk calculations, thereby preventing inefficiencies.
