Job title: Japan Power Scheduler
Role: Responsible for scheduling physical power
Seniority: Junior to mid level (experienced)
Location: Tokyo, Japan

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling operation for Japan Physical Power portfolio
  • Manage the renewables asset on contract in a most economical way and optimize the overall physical power position in coordination with Short Term Trader
  • Monitor physical power position and nominate bid into Japan Electricity Power Exchange (JEPX) Day-ahead and Intra Day market. Settle the balance of positions with Transmission System Operator (TSO)
  • Submit Supply and Demand plan to the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators (OCCTO).
  • Facilitate any day-to-day delivery issues between trade counterparties.
  • Regulatory reporting to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and keep track for any update in regulatory environment
  • Being a primary contact with external counterparty incl. JEPX, TSO, METI and OCCTO for the relevant issues
  • On daily basis, liaison internally with IT and back office to implement smooth scheduling operation. And improve efficiency of the trade cycle
  • Represent the front office team in the event of any major system update (internal and external). Actively contribute to the IT related projects and ensure the operational continuity
  • Proactively report potential issues and work collaboratively to resolve them
  • Assist the trader on the analytical tasks as required
  • The role requires day time shift work over weekends and public holidays on a roster with other members of the team

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or more
  • Minimum 2 or 3 years of working experience in a Japan power scheduling role
  • Knowledge and experience of Japan power market
  • Advanced computer skill in Microsoft Office
  • Language: Must be native/highly fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking), English fluency (TOEIC 700
