What You Can Expect

In your role, you will work with the Sustainability and enterprise risk teams, focusing on understanding and mitigating climate risks to ENGIE's renewable energy assets in North America. In particular, extreme convective events (such as hail, extreme winds, freezes, and tornados) threatening our asset’s integrity, and chronic evolutions of production induced by climate change (e.g., reduction of solar production due to derating of the inverter caused by heat waves).

You will understand the climate events most impactful for our renewable energy technologies, financially quantify the risk, and apply your findings to real assets. You will help identify existing assets that are at-risk, construct climate adaptation plans (where necessary), and quantify residual risk(s). This assessment will support our understanding of risk and will allow leadership to make more informed decisions.

Your role will involve collaborating with different teams across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the historical impacts of climate events on different renewable energy technologies
  • Quantify the financial impacts of these climate events on ENGIE's assets
  • Apply your findings to real assets, construct climate adaptation plans, and quantify residual risk

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Climate Corp Program
  • Knowledgeable about the energy transition and ideally adaptation to climate change
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk management
  • Ability to think analytically, present ideas professionally, ensuring every aspect is carefully considered with deep analysis and thoughtful evaluation to maintain high standards throughout effectively
  • An affinity for technical subjects: adaptation applies climate science subjects (climate models, uncertainties) to technological and local subjects, and therefore requires juggling several levels of thinking, and good project management skills
  • Finance experience would be useful in quantification and incorporating findings
  • Good interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in a large organization (technical experts, climate scientists, insurance)
