Context

Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) is ENGIE's leading energy supply, trading and risk management business. We have built our expertise through managing ENGIE's large and diverse asset portfolio for over more than 20 years. We provide energy supply solutions and risk management services to support our clients through their decarbonization journey, while optimizing ENGIE’s assets and contributing to value creation.

 

Within GEMS, the Structured Power Origination desk is part of the Northwest Europe power trading and origination platform. The main mission of the Structured Power Origination desk is to nurture GEMS’ power trading activities by developing, originating and implementing high added value structured power deals across the power value chain in Northwest Europe.

 

Role

As a Structured Power Originator your key responsibilities within the team will be:

  • Develop the client business for structured power products (prospecting, building commercial pipeline and closing deals) focusing on:
    • Exotic power products for utility-size flexible assets such as thermal assets (spread options, Tolling agreements, etc.), Pumped Hydro Storages, Electrolysers, Battery Energy Storage Systems,…
    • Illiquid and tailor-made power products
  • Develop, originate and implement risk management solutions to support the growth of GEMS’ renewable power portfolio in Northwest Europe,
  • Price structured power products in close collaboration with the power trading team for the desk deal funnel and support other origination teams in structuring and pricing structured power deals for their clients,
  • Contribute to the development/improvement of pricing methodologies and models in close collaboration with trading, risk, market analysts, quant teams and IT

 

This is a front office role, working in a dynamic trading floor environment and in close collaboration with trading, quants, risk, legal, and other origination teams.

About YOU

Hard skills

  • Strong knowledge of the power markets in Europe, structured power products and option pricing (Greeks)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Well connected with various power market players (industrials, utilities, funds, banks, trading houses, etc.)
  • Proficiency with IT tools
  • Proficiency in Python or any other programming language is a plus

Soft skills

  • Result-oriented hands-on approach and strong commercial drive
  • Reliable, rigorous and curious
  • Stress resilient and ability to operate in a demanding environment
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with very diverse professional profiles (clients, traders, quants, sales, support functions, etc.)


Education and professional background

  • 5-10 years of professional experience and proven track record in (developing) structured power origination
  • Master degree in a quantitative discipline (engineering, economics, finance, etc.)

Languages
  • Fluent in English, any other European language is a plus
