Sr. Data Base Engineer

The Senior Database Engineer, focused on Data and Backend, designs and creates new data solutions centered on database and data lake technologies in support of Energy services. Significant big data expertise using Microsoft, AWS, and Snowflake technologies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, configure and enhance data systems using appropriate technologies  like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and/or Azure Synapse SQL
  • Construct data lake solutions based on Azure and/or AWS data lake architectures
  • Design and implement new data models and optimize existing models in appropriate technologies (like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and/or Azure Synapse SQL).
  • Translate Agile software development stories into database capabilities supporting the needed functionality and performance, estimate level of effort, and track progress on a daily basis
  • Document and educate technology partners and peers regarding capabilities of constructed solutions

Partner with infrastructure teams (on-premise and cloud) to size and design the infrastructure necessary to support our data computing needs

Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred in computer science or a related field
    • 5+ years relevant experience with backend software development and/or data engineering required
    • Cloud engineering experience with an emphasis on Azure technologies preferred
    • Experience with Python
    • Experience with data technologies such as Snowflake preferred
    • Experience creating data repositories support web applications and REST APIs.
    • Experience with high throughput, big volume, fast response time, scalable systems
    • Experience with data security a plus, for example through experience in the energy, finance, or healthcare industries
    • May consider a combination of relevant experience with educational and other skills and abilities in lieu of educational requirement

 

Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
    • Expertise with SQL, and other data technologies such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and/or Azure Synapse SQL,
    • Data modelling skills for OLTP and OLAP systems
    • Strong familiarity with Azure and/or AWS/GCP cloud environments
    • Ability to mentor junior team members
    • Good written and verbal English communication skills and ability to work effectively as a contributor in a technical team environment

 

 

Work Environment

  • Work schedules are determined by business need and manager discretion; full time employment is considered 40 hours per week

  • Reaching and Handling: Ability to reach, handle, and manipulate objects and equipment within an office or remote workspace.
  • Occasional Lifting: Ability to lift and move items, such as files or office supplies, typically up to 10 pounds.
  • Flexibility: Ability to perform tasks that may require bending, twisting, or standing briefly to access materials or equipment.

At ENGIE Impact, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining pay. Actual pay will vary depending on factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, qualifications, location, and internal equity. All offers will be in compliance with all local, state, and federal minimum wage requirements.

 

The target pay range for this position is $108,000- $182,500
