What You Can Expect
As the Sr. Solar Technician, your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems upon arrival at the Sypert Branch solar plant in Rogers, TX. Your duties encompass repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. Based on your skill level and direction from your supervisor, you perform complex maintenance tasks such as troubleshooting distributed control systems and inverters. You will complete work orders within the preventive maintenance management system and carry out corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on all solar power plant system equipment.
In this role your key responsibilities everyday will be:
- Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders in coordination with the Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC), and operate all electrical and mechanical systems within the solar power plant
- Participate in required training and are responsible for writing plant orders, procedures, operating instructions, job safety plans (JSP), lockout/tagout (LOTO) documentation, and other assigned materials
- Work independently or as part of a crew to complete assigned tasks across solar power plant systems
- Utilize SCADA systems and other digital tools for monitoring and diagnostics, along with test equipment such as meggers and IV curve testers
- Travel to various sites as required to support maintenance and operational needs
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in solar generation sites, wind generation sites, BESS sites, thermal power plants, manufacturing or mining operations, or controls & industrial maintenance
- Must have or be willing to obtain certification by AVO as substation technician within 12 months of hire date
- Ability to work long hours, often outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods
- Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by supervisor
Additional Details
- This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s)
- This role requires daily attendance at a worksite
- Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- The position consists of 20% work indoors and 80% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
- Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs
Compensation
Hourly Range: $34.00 – 42.00 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
