We are hiring a senior oil trader to join our oil derivatives desk. The desk is built on a strong client franchise, and the trader will work closely with sales to provide hedging solutions to clients with price exposure in oil and gas markets. The role suits someone who can own a book, price and warehouse risk sensibly, and lead client engagement proactively.

Key Responsibilities 

•    Own and manage the Asian middle distillates book, with full accountability for P&L and risk
•    Warehouse risk where appropriate, hedging the relevant components while keeping the risk we can manage for better overall results
•    Price illiquid and non-standard risk, and manage the resulting positions within approved limits
•    Help shape desk strategy, risk appetite, and franchise development
•    Price and execute derivatives for clients across the oil complex
•    Partner with sales to deliver market color, views, and trade ideas, and act as a senior voice with key clients
•    Anticipate client needs and proactively initiate conversations when opportunities arise
•    Mentor junior traders and contribute to the desk’s culture and standards

Qualifications

·       8+ years of oil derivatives trading experience, ideally on a client-facing desk at a bank, trading house, or major energy company

·       Stable, committed career history, with meaningful tenure in previous roles

·       Degree in finance, economics, engineering, or another quantitative field

Technical Skills & Experience

·       Deep expertise in Asian middle distillates (gasoil, jet)

·       Comfort with cross-barrel coverage

·       Solid grasp of the fundamental drivers in the middle distillate market

·       Strong knowledge of derivatives pricing and the hedging of curve, basis and spread risk

·       Ability to translate market fundamentals into actionable trading views and insightful market colour
