Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to market understanding, design, efficiency, and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition. GEMS manages one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe, including electricity, natural gas, bulk commodities, and environmental products. Within the GEMS Business Unit, the Business Platform APAC manages and develops ENGIE's trading activities in the APAC region, focusing on four main pillars: risk management and market access, asset management, green solutions, and energy supply businesses.

 

YOUR ROLE

 

Organization

 

The GEMS APAC team is based in Singapore and offers trading services to both internal and external clients in the APAC region. We specialize in providing optimization, hedging, market operations, and analytics services to support our clients.

 

Role

 

We are currently seeking a new Sales Associate to join the GEMS APAC Origination team and capitalize on the exciting opportunities arising from the ongoing energy transition. This role involves working with a diverse range of structured contracts, including oil, gas, power, and carbon/renewable products.
 

Main Activities & Key Responsibilities

  • Quote prices and execute trades with clients in various commodity products, such as oil, gas, power, and environmental contracts.
  • Stay updated on industry news, events, and market movements to provide timely information and insights to clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare concise and compelling presentations and reports, leveraging excellent spreadsheet skills.
  • Generate trade ideas and contribute to the development of structured products and offerings.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities in APAC region for energy derivatives and green solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams, including originators, traders, and functional teams like KYC, credit, and legal.
  • Proactively identify and liaise opportunities with other business units of Engie, leveraging a deep understanding of Engie Group's offerings and capabilities.

 

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Hold a university degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience in a trading/bank environment.
  • Possess experience with commodity price derivatives for corporate clients, preferably Asian clients.
  • Have proven experience and a solid understanding of trading and/or portfolio management processes.
  • Experience in negotiating structured contracts and underlying financing arrangements of energy projects will be a distinct advantage.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the energy, derivatives, and carbon/renewable markets.
  • Ability to handle risk evaluation and control processes, including market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Japanese. Proficiency in any other Asian language(s) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in commercial structuring and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
