Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) Overview

 

The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group (~100 000 employees). GEMS teams (~3 500 employees) manage a large and highly diversified energy portfolio, including electricity, natural gas, biomass, LNG and other fuels, CO2 and environmental products, and provide a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants in Europe, Asia Pacific and in the Americas. GEMS manages the B2B supply business within ENGIE, including supply contracts and Power Purchase Agreements.

Within the GEMS business unit, the Asia PACific Business Platform (BP APAC) is managing and developing the group’s trading activities for the regions around two main pillars: risk management / market access and green solutions.

Role Purpose

 

As a key participant in the implementation of BP APAC business development plan, the purpose of the role is to support both EC Commercial (Origination/Structuring) and EC MAS (Trading) colleagues through their processes and performance.

Responsibilities | You may be requested to perform duties outside of the listed scope of responsibilities from time to time, as required

 

As FO Support and Control Officer, your responsibilities are as follow:

 

  • Foster a strong collaborative culture with EC Commercial and EC MAS as the first point of contact, promoting Central’s best practices in BP APAC and streamline FO related processes.
  • Provide steering capabilities for our Commercial / Green solutions teams
      • Familiarize with GEMFORCE system (structure, data, ownership and features) – our CRM tool
      • Accompany users / commercial community for full adoption
      • Ensure integrity and accuracy of data in GEMFORCE for BP APAC (incl. JPN)
      • Produce KPIs, dashboard related to our commercial activity
      • Act as SPOC for GEMFORCE in the platform
      • Arrange regular client performance review in coordination with CEO of BP APAC / Head of Commercial

 

  • Assist in Business Development and Strategic initiatives
    • New Counterparty onboarding
      • First point of contact for Origination team for onboarding
      • Coordinate between APAC Origination team and Support Functions to proactively manage the counterparty onboarding pipeline, when necessary to prioritize and arbitrage
      • Initiate onboarding with counterparty, launch KYC documentation requests, ensure completeness prior to internal circulation, and subsequent periodic renewal process
      • Coordinate ISDA negotiation, including legal and other corporate supporting documents required for onboarding
      • Participate in the credit committee with regard to new clients, onboarding and prioritization

 

    • Support Commercial initiatives implementation and business / strategic expansion (market analysis, survey)

 

  • Coordinate Communication / Marketing effort (internal / external): client event, business award, conference, Commercial newsletter, etc.
  • Work with Heads of Trading desks and BP to ensure Originator and Traders adherence to trading mandates, controls and resolution of alerts (with the objective to reduce operational risk) and ensure business continuity
  • Support BP APAC CEO on ad hoc request such as Budget preparation, performance review, dashboard / KPI reporting or any supporting document for internal meetings with ENGIE Senior management + coordinate with ENGIE SEA Chief of Staff when needed

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Level of Education

Tertiary degree in relevant discipline

  • Knowledge of banking, commodity trading industry (3-5y of experience)
