The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group. GEMS teams manage a large and highly diversified energy portfolio, including electricity, natural gas, biomass, LNG and other fuels, CO2 and environmental products, and provide a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants in Europe, Asia and in the US. GEMS manages the B2B supply business within ENGIE, including supply contracts and Power Purchase Agreements.

Within the GEMS Business Unit, the Singapore-based Business Platform (BP) APAC, Australia & New Zealand and LNG are managing and developing the group’s trading activities for these regions around 4 main pillars: risk management and market access, asset management, green solutions and energy supply businesses.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE

 

Organization

In the ever changing world of the energy business high social and environmental performance of ENGIE's and GEMS' portfolio is important and  indispensable for our “License to operate“. Within GEMS the CSR team is responsible to comply with CSR / Due diligence laws and Engie Group policies related to GEMS' business. Together with colleagues from the strategy and carbon operations team we develop and implement strategies to push GEMS' Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance to a higher level. We support the business in the discussions with our suppliers on the (legal) ESG aspects and have discussions with experts on the different ESG topics.

Role

  • Geographical scope: APAC / ANZ
  • Functional scope: BP APAC, BP ANZ, BP LNG (for clients located in the region)

 

Main activities

  • Develop policies and procedures relating to GEMS’ social and environmental responsibilities, to ensure compliance with the Duty of Vigilance law, ENGIE’s policies and all relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Perform Societal & Environment risks assessment of GEMS’ activities (physical and financial commodity trading, eg biomass, natural gas, carbon credits, PPAs, green gas, … )
  • Perform benchmark of existing Societal & Environment standards and guidance against ENGIE’s standards and policies.
  • Ensure and monitor the implementation of mitigation measures together with the business (ESG contractual conditions, contractual management of counterparties)
  • Represent internally/externally ENGIE/GEMS on relevant ESG subjects
  • Advice Senior management of GEMS/APAC & ANZ on ESG related subjects and business
  • Contribute to the definition of ESG strategy (in collaboration with GEMS Strategy team)
  • Engage with internal/external stakeholders to improve GEMS ESG performance (R&I, industry players, institutions, NGO’s, … )
  • Support colleagues in the implementation of GEMS ESG strategy, with a continuous improvement approach
  • Coordinate internal/external ESG related projects
