Are you passionate about the energy markets and eager to make a real impact on the energy transition? Join our dynamic Short Term Optimization team and help us unlock the full value of our energy assets.

🌍 About the Role

As a Short Term Optimizer, you will play a key role in maximizing the value of ENGIE’s energy portfolio in the Iberian markets. You’ll work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment where analytical skills, market insight, and strategic thinking come together to drive results.

This is a shift-based position, offering a unique opportunity to be at the heart of real-time energy management, ensuring the optimal operation and profitability of our assets.

⚙️ What You’ll Do

  • Maximize asset value through 24/7 management of physical energy markets — from day-ahead to near real time — ensuring accurate position capture and a deep understanding of P&L impacts.
  • Define and execute bidding strategies for managed assets, translating market positions into optimal physical plans and ensuring system balance.
  • Coordinate production planning and outages in close collaboration with O&M and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the asset portfolio, ensuring correct modeling and system representation.
  • Design and implement models and prototypes to support economic and physical optimization of energy assets.
  • Continuously seek new revenue streams and optimization opportunities to enhance portfolio profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Cybersecurity, Diversity, Environmental, and Ethical standards.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture, supporting personal and professional growth within the team.

🎯 What We’re Looking For

Must-have:

  • 1–5 years of experience in energy markets, trading, or optimization.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and structured thinking.
  • Understanding or strong interest in the Spanish electricity market.
  • Fluent English (C1) level.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of the gas market.
  • Programming skills in Python.
  • Portuguese language skills.

🚀 Why Join Us

  • Work at the forefront of the energy transition with one of Europe’s leading energy companies.
  • Be part of a diverse, international, and collaborative environment.
  • Continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
  • A role that combines technical challenge, real-time decision-making, and impact.
