1. Role Purpose
The Senior Spot Buyer plays a strategic and operational role in managing spot buying activities, ensuring efficient procurement of intellectual services, software, and equipment in compliance with Group agreements, procurement policies, and governance standards.
The role acts as a key interface between business stakeholders, suppliers, Category Managers, and procurement teams, while also supporting process optimization, governance improvement, reporting activities, and coaching junior team members when needed.
2. Key Responsibilities
Operational Procurement Activities
- Manage complex “Spot Buy sourcing” activities for consultants and suppliers based on Group agreements (IT, Technical Assistance, Functional Assistance).
- Independently handle end-to-end procurement requests with limited supervision.
- Process software and equipment purchase requests while ensuring compliance with procurement governance and contractual rules.
- Support high-volume and time-sensitive procurement activities, including renewal campaigns (GBS IT / ENGIE DIGITAL / GEMS & E&C).
Stakeholder & Supplier Management
- Act as a trusted partner for internal stakeholders and provide advisory support on procurement processes, supplier selection, and VMS usage.
- Manage interactions with suppliers and resolve escalations or complex operational issues.
- Coordinate with Category Managers, Global Buyers, Legal, Finance, and operational teams when required.
Governance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure VMS data quality and contribute to governance compliance.
- Define and improve VMS usage policies and best practices together with the VMS Admin team.
- Deliver advanced analysis, KPI reporting, and insights to stakeholders (Catman / GLB / Entities).
- Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to procurement transformation initiatives.
- Support documentation updates, knowledge sharing, and onboarding/training activities within the team.
Expertise & Leadership Contribution
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Spot Buy activities and procurement processes.
- Coach and support junior team members on operational topics and best practices.
- Contribute to stabilizing and optimizing procurement workflows across entities and stakeholders.
3. Key Competencies

- Strong knowledge of VMS (Vendor Management Systems), procurement governance, and contractual principles.
- Solid understanding of procurement processes, sourcing methodologies, and supplier management.
- Advanced knowledge of procurement digital tools and reporting analysis.
- Ability to interpret procurement policies and apply them to complex operational scenarios.

4. Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in procurement, business, economics, or similar field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or purchasing activities.
- Experience in procurement of intellectual services, IT procurement, or vendor management is a strong advantage.
- Experience working in an international or shared services environment is considered a plus.
