Context

As a Senior Short-Term Trader, you will be a key contributor within the Short-Term Trading Desk, part of the Business Platform Power Trading & Commercial.

Our mission is to maximize the value of ENGIE’s power portfolio in the CWE region (Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands) and capture opportunities in the fast-evolving pan-European intraday markets.

You will operate in a dynamic environment where decisions must be made in real time, based on large and complex datasets. Working within a 9-person team organized in a 24/7 shift system, you will combine trading and optimization activities and collaborate closely with Algorithmic Trading and Optimization teams.

Your Mission

As Senior Short-Term Trader, you will:

  • Maximize revenues from the CWE power portfolio in intraday markets, including renewable integration, sales exposure, and asset flexibility.
  • Act as the single point of contact for intraday markets to cover real-time physical needs and re-optimize the asset portfolio against market prices.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize revenues and minimize costs across short-term horizons.
  • Contribute to model development for assets, intermittency and identify trading opportunities across multiple markets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of portfolio and market activities.
  • Support the development and improvement of algorithmic trading activities.
  • Work within a 24/7 rotating shift system.

You will report to the Head of Short-Term Trading.

What we are looking for

  • Strong analytical and programming skills (data analysis, model building).
  • Solid understanding of power market fundamentals.
  • Interest in quantitative methods and process automation.
  • Ability to combine analysis and synthesis, with a process-oriented mindset.
  • Pragmatic, logical, and solution-driven approach.
  • Resilient under pressure and able to perform in high-stakes, time-sensitive environments.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a keen eye for opportunities.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Willingness to work in a rotating shift system.

Education & Experience

  • University degree in Engineering, Economics, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in power trading, with a proven track record in intraday trading.
  • Programming skills in Python, R, or similar.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of French, Dutch, or German is a strong asset.
