SUMMARY:

The Waste Compliance Auditor will be performing compliance-based waste audits in a high client-facing, travel-intensive role. They will also assist the Audit Support Team in various projects related to waste-audits, zero waste, and other tasks on an as-needed basis.

  • Conduct on-site projects and compliance improvement programs, which include training, bin optimization and planning, and department-wide waste audits.
  • Perform an average of 3 audits per day on a given audit week.
  • Prepare and present waste solutions presentations and reporting for client facing meetings.
  • Share and justify audit decisions in a regulatory context with site and regional senior leadership.
  • Ability to understand and speak to regulated waste including Medical and Pharmaceutical Waste and Protected Health Information.
  • Manage and analyze multiple large datasets using MS Office Suite to find trends, identify operational opportunities, and produce deliverables.
  • Solve escalated client and team issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner to ensure customer retention and satisfaction.
  • Manage multiple tasks on multiple projects including creating and implementing project timelines, answering customer requests, printing and/or creating training materials, data entry, scheduling meetings and developing training sessions.
  • Research and build thought leadership around recycling and diversion practices and vendors
  • Assist clients with and coordinate details for various special projects that are deadline driven.
  • Coordinate with the client, onsite contacts and team members to ensure preparedness for audits.
  • Coordinate with the audit team to prepare for audits, including building audit and travel schedules, managing supplies and inventory and training waste audit volunteers.
  • Promote Engie’s brand and services through excellent customer service during normal client interactions.
  • Generate reports, prepare and monitor invoices and expense reports.
  • Contact vendors via email and phone to obtain client-relevant information, including contact information and details regarding waste services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification/

Knowledge

 

 

 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Environment Science, Sustainability ect.
  • Waste industry knowledge required in at least two of the following specialties: Solid waste, recycling, organics, medical waste, hazardous waste, pharmaceutical waste, universal waste, electronic waste, specialized waste disposal regulations and methods and confidential information waste.
  • Current Driver’s License and a clean driving record

 

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

Experience: 

 

 

  • Minimum 2 years of waste industry experience
  • Minimum 2 years project management or client facing work experience Preferred.
  • Waste compliance or healthcare industry preferred

  • Ability to work with new technology & software as well as large datasets, and is comfortable making data-driven decisions
  • Strong collaborator, comfortable with giving and receiving feedback and participating in an open team environment
  • Strong Customer Service, Presentation and Project Management skills/abilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. however, working hours depend on business needs, often at client sites/landfills/loading docks
  • Performing duties and attending events during the evening and on the weekend occurs occasionally and may be required
  • Travel 50% -75% of the time.
  • Significant air and auto travel required. 
  • Exposure to strong organic smells.
  • Potential exposure to multiple waste-streams for 4-8 hours per day during waste audits.
  • Incumbent may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among fellow employee

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit or stand and use a computer for up to four hours at a time.
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard, handle paper documents and audit waste streams
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds consistently over the duration of a shift (30-150 pounds an hour).
