Mission
As a Quantity Surveyor (QS) within a Project Management Consultant (PMC) team for a data center project, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial success and efficiency of the project. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the cost aspects of the project, from initial budgeting to final account settlement.
Cost Planning:
- Develop comprehensive cost plans based on project scope, design drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare cost estimates for various project stages, including tendering, construction, and maintenance.
Tendering and Contract Administration:
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, including bills of quantities and specifications.
- Evaluate tender submissions and recommend suitable contractors based on cost and quality.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions to ensure favorable pricing and risk allocation.
- Administer contracts throughout the project lifecycle, including variations, claims, and final account settlement.
Cost Control:
- Monitor and track project costs against the approved budget.
- Identify and address cost variances, implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Prepare regular cost reports for the project team and client.
- Review and approve contractor payments.
Value Engineering:
- Identify opportunities to improve project value while maintaining quality and functionality.
- Conduct value engineering studies to explore alternative materials, methods, or designs.
- Implement cost-effective solutions without compromising project objectives.
Risk Management:
- Assess potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare contingency plans to address unexpected cost increases.
Final Accounts:
- Prepare and review final accounts to ensure accurate and complete settlement of costs.
- Negotiate any outstanding claims or disputes.
- Provide advice on tax implications and financial reporting.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills with previous team leadership experience.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external design teams, including planning and managing the collaboration process.
- Participate in project meetings and presentations to present BIM progress and clash detection reports.
- Liaise with design teams, project managers, and clients to ensure project goals are met.
- Ability to prioritize workload, work to deadlines, and manage effectively under pressure.
Profile
- Proven experience in quantity surveying for data center or similar complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, estimating methods, and cost control techniques.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, WinQS).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience with B360, ACC, Navisworks Manage, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Excellent understanding of Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) services and Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP).
- Experience working in a data centre design environment (advantageous).
- Proficiency in G Suite applications (advantageous).
- Experience working in a global business environment (advantageous).
