What You Can Expect 

As our Engineer I Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting the development, testing, and validation of Power Plant Controller (PPC) systems. In this role, you will assist with developing PSCAD models for the BroadView PPC Controller, creating models suitable for hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) simulations, and developing test cases to evaluate controller performance. You will also conduct simulation testing and help validate control functions to ensure system reliability and alignment with project requirements.

This Engineer I/ internship offers valuable exposure to advanced power system modeling, control logic validation, and real‑world applications supporting renewable energy integration.

 

This internship is based in San Francisco, CA and runs for three months, from June 1, 2026, through August 21, 2026. You will report to the Controls Engineering Director.

 

  • Assist in developing the PSCAD Model for the BroadView PPC Controller
  • Develop models that can be used in HIL simulators
  • Develop test cases for testing the PPC controller
  • Conduct simulation testing and validate control functions

What You’ll Bring

  • You are currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field with relevant courses in Power System Engineering
  • You are knowledgeable of how to use PSCAD for power system models
  • You have Experience with programming languages such as CodeSys, MATLAB, Simulink, or Python
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You have excellent communication skills
  • You have the ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks

 

 

Additional Details

  • The intern should be available to work 20–40 hours per week, with three in-office days per week
  • Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $34.25 – 57.09 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
