What you will do:
ENGIE IT provides global IT services for ENGIE’s Business Units, regional entities, and subsidiaries. The transversal SACM team (Service Asset & Configuration Management), following ITIL best practices, ensures the reliability, coherence, and operational usability of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) across the organization.
The CMDB supports many vital functions: IT infrastructure representation, service ownership mapping, process traceability (incidents, changes, problems), service subscriptions, asset management, and billing foundations.
This position will be integrated into the Configuration Management team based in Romania, with a strong operational role in managing data quality, process communication, continuous improvement, and support for automation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Relay CMDB process rules and data model documentation across teams, ensuring proper use of CI types, attributes, and relationships, while supporting operational teams in understanding the required level of data granularity.
- Collect modeling needs from IT teams and service owners, evaluate alignment with the existing data model, suggest adjustments, and support service modeling activities including CI creation, relationships, and attributes.
- Assist teams with data imports, templates, CMDB usage, and automation tools for updates (e.g., discovery tools, service request workflows); also contribute to technical and functional specifications, and support testing and deployment of CMDB updates.
- Conduct regular audits comparing physical and cloud inventories to the CMDB, identify discrepancies, propose corrections, maintain baselines to measure progress, and trigger escalation procedures when needed.
- Produce regular reports on data quality, update errors, asset inventory, and CMDB completeness and compliance; also support billing-related reporting and handle ad hoc data extractions.
- Maintain the CMDB “location” table, ensure regular updates from IT teams, manage bulk data imports/updates, support automation, respond to extraction requests, and follow up on service consumption and license deactivation after employee offboarding, raising requests for unreturned assets or access issues as needed.
Desired education, expertise, and skills:
- Technical & Functional Expertise
- Deep knowledge of ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred), especially the CMDB module.
- Good understanding of data modeling and CMDB structures.
- Experience in mass data management (import/export, templates).
- Proficiency in query creation (SQL or similar) and relational table handling.
- Proactive and autonomous
- Strong organizational and synthesis abilities
- High attention to detail and reliability
- Effective written communication (in English and French)
- Ability to collaborate across departments and roles (technical, functional, managerial)
- Pedagogical mindset to support knowledge sharing and adherence to processes
- Comfortable leading discussions in both French and English, in meetings and written reports
