What You Can Expect

As our Photovoltaic (PV) Technician located in Southern California you will be a licensed California Journeyman Electrician working primarily throughout Orange County and the Inland Empire.  Our employees do not work alone, you will be responsible for instructing and training an apprentice electrician first in safety, and in the  best practices of the electrical trade.

Every day, you will work together with your apprentice championing and complying with 100% of the safety requirements of both ENGIE and our clients.  You will be responsible for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting  of a large number of solar projects. These are smaller scale projects typically public works projects located throughout the Southern California Region. The majority will be rooftop arrays. You must understand and abide by the safety requirements of the NEC electrical code, NFPA70 and OSHA 30. Electrical Safety and Driving Safety are extremely important in this role. You will be maintaining and repairing Arrays, Inverters and Batteries in the field. You will be responding to trouble tickets and scheduled maintenance activities.  Troubleshooting and reporting findings and service recommendations, to Management and clients.   You will be developing scopes of work for subcontractors as required.  Finally using field mobile applications and Microsoft products you will write and share service reports, and update stakeholders on equipment status, implementation of repairs, and upgrades and recommissioning equipment as needed.

Our work is predominately prevailing wage Public Works projects

 

Additional Duties:

  • Must adhere to all required federal, state and local laws/statutes, as applicable to this role
  • Maintain the performance of each photovoltaic project subject to performance guarantees
  • Perform scheduled annual preventative maintenance services for PV systems
  • Review annual preventative maintenance service reports to identify issues that require follow up corrective action. 
  • Maintain detailed expense records for all service calls including parts costs, tools, mileage, and timekeeping utilizing company provided software tools

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • You will have a minimum of four (4) years of electrical experience in which you have achieved a California Journeyman Electrician License
  • You will have accumulated  experience in PV design, installation, and or maintenance
  • You will be knowledgeable in the technical requirements of commissioning, troubleshooting of solar electrical generation systems, and monitoring communication equipment
  • You will have gained experience in collaboration and communication,  such as communicating completion of daily tasks, seeking direction, and providing recommendations on services and repairs.
  • You have experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions, and share those conclusions verbally or in writing typically using Microsoft Office, or other Field Management tools
  • You have experience  with performance guarantees and compliance with manufacturer, customer, and regulatory requirements. All project work must abide by the O&M and/or Performance Guarantee contract terms.  Specifically pertaining to the maintenance to be performed on customer sites with respect to customer safety requirements, DOJ Livescan and site access terms and conditions
  • Analytical skills:  The position requires reviewing PV system performance reports and troubleshooting under-performance issues as well as outage problems at customer sites
  • You will be knowledgeable in the technical requirements of commissioning, troubleshooting of solar electrical generation systems, and monitoring communication equipment

 

Additional Details

  • Up to 90% travel (day time travel), with occasional overnight stays
  • Requires safe operation of a company vehicle-- Valid State Issued Driver’s license required
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use a company computer

  • Field environment and occasional office environment, may be exposed to different weather elements
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $35.82-54.90 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
