R&D and AI Lead 

Job Summary 

The R&D and AI Lead will drive the development and implementation of advanced AI solutions including Gen AI across the energy domain in Engie India, with a strong focus on renewables. This hands-on leadership role involves managing a team of AI Engineers, collaborating across functions, and delivering innovative products that support ENGIE’s carbon-neutral mission. The business scope includes the full lifecycle of renewable generation—from Bid process through to operations and maintenance (O&M) and Support Functions. 

Main Objectives 

• Lead AI and Gen AI product development for the renewable energy sector in India. 

• Translate business challenges into AI-driven solutions. 

• Manage and mentor a team of AI Engineers. 

• Ensure compliance and performance of AI systems. 

• Drive digital transformation through AI innovation. 

• Collaborate with ENGIE D&IT HQ AI teams to replicate and adapt existing AI solutions for India. 

• Engage with AI startups and learn from the broader AI ecosystem to integrate cutting-edge innovations. 

Key Responsibilities 

AI Product Development & Technical Leadership 

• Build AI models for forecasting, optimisation, and predictive maintenance. 

• Oversee full AI product lifecycle. 

• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers. 

• Integrate emerging technologies. 

Team Management & Collaboration 

• Lead performance and career development of AI Engineers. 

• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration. 

• Conduct internal AI capability-building sessions. 

Strategic Planning & Compliance 

• Align AI strategy with ENGIE’s digital goals. 

• Ensure data governance and regulatory compliance. 

• Monitor KPIs and report to senior leadership. 

Experience & Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in AI, Data Science, or related field. 

• 15+ years in energy domain with AI implementation experience. 

• Experience with AI in renewable energy. 

• Proven track record in renewable energy product development. 

• Experience managing technical teams. 

Skills & Abilities 

• Expertise in AI, Gen AI, ML and analytics. 

• Proficiency in Generative AI technologies and frameworks. 

• Strong leadership and project management. 

• Proficiency in cloud platforms and AI frameworks.
