Job Description: Aveva Wonderware Lead Developer (Tech Lead) – ENGIE India

Job Summary

The Aveva Wonderware Lead Developer (Tech Lead) at ENGIE India is the primary technical authority within a dedicated feature team supporting the Global Hypervision Center (GHC) initiative.

This role is responsible for the design, development, configuration, and support of solutions based on Aveva Wonderware System Platform, acting as the main technical point of contact for all project stakeholders.

The Tech Lead will guide the team in technical matters, perform hands-on development, and ensure alignment with ENGIE’s global standards for renewable and flexible generation.

Main Objectives

Serve as the technical lead for the feature team, providing expertise and guidance on all aspects of Aveva Wonderware System Platform and related technologies.

Develop, configure, and support Wonderware solutions for the Global Hypervision Center, ensuring high-quality deliverables and compliance with ENGIE standards.

Assist team members with technical issues, code reviews, and architectural decisions.

Act as the primary technical liaison with ENGIE’s R&F GBU Wonderware expertise team and report technical or functional blocking points as needed.

Support the transition and handover of the application from the R&F Digital&IT team in France.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Leadership & Development
  • Lead the development of new Wonderware models and instantiation of Wonderware objects.
  • Design and develop Wonderware OMI HMIs using Archestra Graphics.
  • Install and configure Wonderware software (System Platform, Historian, OMI, etc.).
  • Install and configure third-party industrial software for data collection (e.g., Cogent, Matrikon, Kepware).
  • Analyze Wonderware logs and perform import/export of templates, instances, and graphics.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to other team members.
  • Participate in design, estimation, and technical decision-making meetings.
  • Synchronize with ENGIE’s R&F (Renewables & Flex) GBU Wonderware expertise team for technical alignment.
  1. Project & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Report functional and technical blocking points to the appropriate parties.
  • Integrate into a dynamic, agile project environment and contribute to large-scale team efforts.

Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in Wonderware System Platform development and technical leadership roles.

Proven track record of implementing Wonderware System Platform projects, including:

  • Archestra Graphics development
  • Creation of WSP models
  • Instantiation and management of WSP objects
  • Development and troubleshooting of WSP scripts
  • Analysis of Wonderware logs
  • Import/export of templates, instances, and graphics
  • OMI Interface design and configuration
  • Installation and configuration of Wonderware System Platform software

Technical Skills

  • Advanced expertise in Wonderware System Platform and Wonderware OMI (mandatory, highest priority).
  • Strong knowledge of OT protocols: MQTT, OPC (DA, XML, UA), Modbus TCP, DNP3, IEC104, TASE2 / ICCP.
  • Experience with basic diagnostics on IP networks (ping, traceroute, static route configuration).
  • Experience with third-party industrial software (Cogent suite, Matrikon, Kepware) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Aveva Historian and Aveva Unified Operation Center (UOC).
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot complex industrial automation environments.

Other Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working in Agile methodologies (SCRUM, KANBAN).
  • Strong communication skills in English (French is an advantage).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in large, dynamic teams.
