What You Can Expect

ENGIE North America is seeking a Project Controls Analyst II to join our team at the University of Iowa location. This role sits within the Major Partnerships & Campuses (MP&C) business of Local Energy Infrastructure, which develops and operates long-term partnerships with universities, medical centers, and other institutional customers.

 

As a Project Controls Analyst II, you will focus on a select group of large capital projects that require elevated levels of internal control and reporting. You’ll also support the local team in the financial closeout of the capital expenditure (CapEx) portfolio. In addition, you’ll contribute to broader financial, governance, and fiscal matters in support of the Project Controls team.

 

What You Will Do:  

  • Provide financial support to the capital projects team, including program and project managers, construction managers, engineers, and project administrators
  • Focus on large, capital-intensive projects and support financial closeout activities across the campus portfolio
  • Track and deliver detailed cost reporting, including contractor invoices, schedules of values, change orders, and contract modifications
  • Compile, review, and submit monthly accounting requirements such as vendor accruals, labor allocations, and other financial data
  • Ensure compliance with ENGIE’s internal financial controls, governance standards, and reporting obligations under the O&M and Concession Agreements
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and guidance to the accounting team
  • Prepare reporting, presentations and variance analyses for management, shareholders, and regulatory authorities, while maintaining strong relationships with ENGIE subsidiaries and partners

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related technical field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in project controls or project management support for large-scale CAPEX infrastructure projects, ideally within a university or campus utility environment
  • Financial acumen in budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting for utility-related capital projects (e.g., power generation, steam, chilled/hot water systems)
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering, construction, and facilities teams to ensure lifecycle project execution aligns with schedule and budget
  • Advanced analytical skills, including expertise in Excel-based financial modeling; proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project); SAP experience and familiarity with Procore or other project management tools
  • Understanding of utility systems (e.g., central energy plants, combined heat and power) and contractual frameworks such as Operating & Maintenance and Concession Agreements
  • PMP or CFA certification (or progress toward) is a plus; commitment to continuous improvement and familiarity with modern management tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple assignments accurately and on time, solve problems, and effectively engage stakeholders through clear presentations and written materials

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy  
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 10%, including occasional overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; for the ability to drive to site locations
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic as a self-starter with a high level of organization and meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $61,400 – $94,070 USD annually.

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
