What You Can Expect
As our Operating Engineer at Georgetown University, you will be responsible for the safe, legal, reliable and cost-efficient operation and maintenance of law campus utility production and distribution systems of heating/hot water, steam, chilled water, condensate, and domestic water. Additionally, assists with the maintenance and operation of building management and life safety systems.
You will:
- Maintain a safe, comfortable campus environment by operating, controlling and performing preventive/predictive maintenance on the HVACR, Electrical, Mechanical, and Life Safety building systems 24/7
 - Respond to emergency situations such as flood, smoke, fire, inclement weather
 - Develop and maintain proficiency in the operation of automated building management systems, controls, pumps, heat exchangers, water treatment, cooling towers, boilers, fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency generator, elevator, and various other mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems and equipment associated with the operation of large buildings
 - Assist with overall regulatory and code compliance of all building systems as required by law and local jurisdictions.
 - Test and maintain water chemistry for HVAC, steam and hot water systems
 - Be responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing faults to replace and repair non-operational parts.
 - Schedule preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates at optimum performance
 - Review operational manuals, technical manuals, and system procedures
 
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum educational requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent
 - Must possess a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineers License
 - A minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience in steam engineering practices
 - Must demonstrate the ability to intuitively troubleshoot gauges and instrumentation panels based on prior technical knowledge to ensure optimal system performance.
 - Building automation controls experience
 
Additional Details
This role requires attendance at a worksite on a shift basis;
Need flexibility with 3 shifts: 7am-3pm 3pm-11pm and 11pm-7am
primarily focused on 3-11pm - 11pm-7am
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
This position consists of 15% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical prints 
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to lift light to medium weight objects. Could involve some lifting <50lbs
Ability to perform work from ladders or scaffolds, on top of boilers, next to hot steam driven equipment, and near rotating equipment
Ability to perform work inside confined spaces, manholes and crawl spaces
Compensation
Hourly: $38.27 USD hourly
Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU-United Healthcare Workers East. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union.
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
