About the Role

As the Senior Health & Safety Lead – Renewables & Batteries Australia, you will oversee HSE strategy, performance, and capability across ENGIE’s growing renewable energy and battery portfolio. You’ll partner with leaders, support project delivery, and embed a strong, proactive safety culture across geographically dispersed sites and teams.

This role requires regular travel (approximately 5–10%) to both operational and construction sites across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HSE strategy and safety culture, ensuring alignment with ENGIE Group requirements, Australian legislation, and behavioural‑based safety practices.
  • Oversee HSE performance across development, construction, and operational sites, including inspections, audits, contractor assurance, and emergency response planning.
  • Develop and maintain robust HSE risk management frameworks, including construction safety, HV risk, environmental compliance, and public safety.
  • Analyse incidents and safety data, identify trends, and drive proactive corrective and preventative improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, including regulators, EPC partners, contractors, and ENGIE leadership teams.
  • Lead HSE reporting, governance, and capability uplift, including team leadership, coaching, wellbeing support, and contributions to ESG and business case development.


About You

You are an experienced HSE leader with strong technical depth, an ability to influence at all levels, and a passion for delivering high‑standards of safety across complex operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Extensive HSE experience in construction, energy, heavy industry or renewables.
  • Strong contractor management and safety systems expertise.
  • In‑depth knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation and relevant Australian standards.
  • Demonstrated incident investigation and data analysis capability.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills across varied teams and locations.
