The role

You’ll play a key role in shaping our compliance strategy by offering expert guidance and leadership on both regulatory and internal compliance issues. As a reliable partner to business units managing the businesses energy markets operations, you will ensure that compliance requirements are well understood, properly managed, and integrated into everyday operations. You’ll analyse complex regulatory frameworks, assign compliance responsibilities, and work closely with internal teams and external partners to create and implement strong, risk-based controls. Additionally, you will track compliance performance, investigate any potential violations, manage interactions with regulators, and ensure that both internal and external reports are accurate and timely. By actively identifying compliance risks and fostering a culture of integrity and accountability, you will help establish us as a responsible, transparent, and forward-looking organisation.

 

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in business, engineering, law, regulation or relevant discipline
  • Strong understanding of energy market regulations, in particular gas markets and wholesale electricity markets
  • Proven experience in compliance frameworks including developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs
  • Experienced interpreting and applying legislation and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Regulatory engagement experience liaising with regulatory authorities, managing audits or inquiries, and preparing formal submissions or responses
  • Compliance risk assessments conducting risk reviews, identifying gaps, and developing mitigation strategies
  • Project leadership leading or contributing to regulatory change or compliance improvement projects
  • Monitoring and reporting developing KPIs, dashboards, or reports to monitor regulatory compliance performance
  • Internal control systems and risk management frameworks (e.g., ISO 37301, AS 8000 series)
