Job Description – Mechanical Technicians (G1, G2, G3)

Location: Yas Island
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of mechanical infrastructure across Yas Island. This includes pumps, piping networks, valves, PRVs, firefighting systems, irrigation pumps, sewage pumps, lift stations, and all mechanical rotating equipment. Technicians must ensure asset reliability, conduct inspections, and perform both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in line with the contract scope and HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled PPM and breakdown maintenance for mechanical assets (pumps, motors, valves, etc.).
- Monitor operational parameters, record readings, and escalate abnormalities.
- Carry out alignment, lubrication, seal/gasket replacement, and filter cleaning.
- Maintain water booster systems, pressurization units, sump pumps, and irrigation control valves.
- Conduct routine checks on PRVs, NRVs, VFD panels, and ensure correct operation.
- Ensure proper functioning of mechanical equipment in utility rooms, plant rooms, and pump rooms.
- Adhere to site-specific escalation protocols in the event of system failure.
- Assist in energy efficiency monitoring and leak detection surveys.
- Coordinate with civil, HVAC, and electrical teams during integrated maintenance activities.
- Ensure accurate task reporting in CMMS and proper documentation of spare part usage.

Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of pumps, valves, and mechanical plant equipment.
- Ability to read schematics and piping diagrams.
- Knowledge of firefighting, drainage, and irrigation mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in mechanical alignment, seal replacement, and preventive practices.
- Basic understanding of electrical interlocks and controls on mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS and reporting standards.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
- Certifications in pump maintenance, confined space entry, and safety lockout-tagout.
Health & Safety:
- Follow site-specific RAMS and participate in toolbox talks.
- Use PPE at all times and comply with site safety rules.
- Report hazards, near misses, and mechanical failures immediately.
Authority Matrix:
- G1: Authorized to supervise, troubleshoot, and report asset reliability concerns.
- G2: Authorized to carry out PPMs and minor corrective works independently.
- G3: No independent authority; supports senior team in execution.
