What You Can Expect

As a Financial Reporting Advisor in Markham, ON, you will report to the Director, Financial Control & Reporting and assist in the compilation and delivery of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) based financial statements, reporting packages, and analysis to local management, ENGIE Group, and various Canadian and US partnerships. Ensure reporting compliance with IFRS and US GAAP standards. Develop processes to drive continuous improvement in financial reporting.  Co-ordinate external audits for ENGIE North America, its partnerships, and joint ventures.

 

Compile and review financial statement reporting packages to ensure they comply with IFRS and US GAAP, as applicable, and comply with contractual partnership reporting requirements

Coordinate the statutory and external partnership audits. Review and provide working papers and draft notes disclosures under IFRS and US GAAP, as applicable

Resource plan, in coordination with the Financial Control and Reporting Director, to meet all reporting and audit deadlines identifying both process bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities

Independently research and resolves financial reporting issues

Support management, other ENGIE group, and partnership entities’ financial information requests

Liaise with Technical Accounting team to ensure financial reports comply with IFRS standards, including carrying out implementation of new pronouncements

Quantify financial impacts of new accounting rules for ENGIE group reporting and various partnerships in North America

Liaise with Financial Planning and Business Analysis team to ensure financial reports align with the analytical metrics presented to internal and external stakeholders

Continuously engage with business units’ plant and project accounting, operations, business development, and asset optimization teams to coordinate and prepare responses for special requests for the business unit

Manage internal partnership management activities, including gathering data, providing analysis, preparing reports, making recommendations, driving productivity initiatives, and corrective actions

Coordinate the integration of new acquisitions into the audit and financial reporting processes

A key team player in process improvements and innovation/automation initiatives

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor degree in which you completed accounting, finance or other related disciplines 

A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis

A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in external audit, audit coordination, or external financial reporting background for various stakeholders

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including advanced Excel

Energy sector planning and analysis experience with relevant academic qualifications and intimacy with financial statements

Deadline driven with project management skills necessary for cross-organizational coordination and on-time delivery of results and presentations

Excellent analytical and written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

Ability to handle multiple tasks with ease and bring projects to a timely close

Self-driven and highly motivated to lead a wide variety of initiatives to provide insight and recommendations to the Global Business Unit operations to better position the business

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,600 – $138,805 CAD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
