ENGIE’s Internal Control framework aims to provide reasonable assurance regarding the governance of our business activities in line with three key objectives:
- Ensuring the proper execution and optimization of operations
- Guaranteeing the reliability of financial information
- Securing compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as with the instructions and guidelines set by the Company’s Management
Reporting to the Chief Internal Controls Officer for Spain, the Internal Controls Coordinator will operate as part of the second line of defense and will be responsible for supporting the deployment of Group guidelines and best practices across business processes.
The role involves assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, identifying weaknesses and risks, preventing errors and fraud, and driving the implementation of automated controls and incident remediation. A key focus will be on Financial Internal Controls (FIC).
Responsibilities
- Contribute to defining the scope of controls for the annual INCOME self‑assessment campaign, taking into account business activities, risk exposure, materiality thresholds, and delegated responsibilities across support functions and shared services.
- Support the identification and coordination of Business Process Owners (BPOs) — first line of defense — to ensure:
- Effective implementation of required Group controls, including automated controls
- High‑quality execution of self‑assessments
- Coordinate interactions and alignment between different entities.
- Monitor campaign progress and follow up with BPOs on required actions.
- Track the implementation of action plans designed to remediate deficiencies identified through self‑assessments, incidents, testing, or audits.
- Collaborate in the testing of self‑assessments in accordance with the annual plan.
- Monitor incident alerts (whether detected through tools or not) and support their investigation, resolution, and the definition of improvement measures together with BPOs.
- Share tools, methodologies, and best practices with BPOs.
- Participate in or lead internal control initiatives and departmental projects.
