Senior Geotechnical Engineers joining our team may have opportunities to:
- Support the planning, design, and delivery of hydropower, waterpower, nuclear, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform and review geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, designs, and technical evaluations.
- Support projects involving dams, spillways, intakes, hydraulic structures, penstocks, water-conveyance systems, and related civil works.
- Evaluate rock and soil foundations, slopes, tunnels, canals, excavations, retaining systems, and other geotechnical features.
- Perform or review soil mechanics, rock mechanics, hydrogeological, seepage, stability, and finite-element analyses.
- Plan and oversee geotechnical field investigations, inspections, condition assessments, and risk assessments.
- Prepare and review technical reports, design criteria, specifications, calculations, drawings, procurement documents, and construction deliverables.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a geotechnical subject-matter resource for multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support complex proposals, project planning, client relationships, and business-development activities.
- Coordinate with engineers and technical specialists in Canada and international engineering offices.
- Mentor junior and intermediate professionals and support the development of geotechnical engineering teams.
- Participate in technical meetings and present recommendations to colleagues, clients, partners, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure that work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulations, contractual requirements, and company quality procedures.
- Contribute to the continued development of TRACTEBEL’s geotechnical engineering capability in Canada.

What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with an academic or professional focus in geotechnical engineering.
- At minimum five (5) years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
- Licensed and in good standing as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, or able to obtain the required provincial licensure within a timeframe appropriate for the specific position.
- Experience working in an engineering consultancy, EPC, utility, owner-operator, or comparable project-delivery environment.
- Demonstrated geotechnical experience related to energy, industrial, water, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience planning and conducting geotechnical studies, investigations, inspections, analyses, designs, and evaluations.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, hydrogeology, and geotechnical risk assessment.
- Working knowledge of relevant geotechnical codes, standards, industry practices, software, and modeling tools.
- Ability to independently assess technical challenges, develop recommendations, and communicate engineering decisions.
- Experience preparing and reviewing clear, accurate, and complete engineering deliverables.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to collaborate productively with colleagues, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications may be considered assets depending on the specific opportunity:
- Experience with dams, water-retaining structures, tunnels, hydraulic structures, or water-conveyance systems.
- Experience supporting hydropower, nuclear generation, electricity transmission and distribution, or other highly regulated projects.
- Experience with geotechnical finite-element analysis and related engineering software.
- Experience supporting design, procurement, construction, commissioning, or field execution.
- Project management, work-planning, proposal-development, or client-relationship experience.
- Experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary or geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior and intermediate professionals.
- Experience working with or for Ontario Power Generation.
- Professional proficiency in French or another language relevant to our projects and clients.

Compensation will vary based on the specific position, work location, education, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.
